Death notice: Edward J. Andrzejewski Jr.

Jan. 15, 1927 -- April 27, 2003

MISHAWAKA -- Edward J. Andrzejewski Jr., 76, of Chestnut Street, died Sunday in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Handshaw; a daughter, Carolyn Wilson of South Bend; two sons, David of Carmel, Ind., and Philip of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Richard of Mishawaka and Donald of South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Monica Catholic Church. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, where a vigil service will be at 4 p.m.

Obituary: Edward J. Andrzejewski Jr.

Jan. 15, 1927 -- April 27, 2003

Edward J. Andrzejewski Jr., 76, of Chestnut Street, Mishawaka, Ind., died Sunday morning, April 27, in his home.

Ed retired from the Mishawaka Police Department in 1970, and most recently from the Hickey Funeral Home.

Ed was born Jan. 15, 1927, in South Bend, Ind., to Edward and Catherine (Przybylinski) Andrzejewski, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a niece, Judith Andrzejewski.

On July 15, 1950, in Niles, Mich., he married Marilyn Handshaw, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, David (Jeanne) Andrzejewski of Carmel, Ind., and Philip (Adrian) Andrzejewski of Mishawaka; a daughter, Carolyn Wilson of South Bend; six grandchildren, Taryn (Thomas) Hagedorn of South Bend, Bret Wilson of South Bend, Nicholas Andrzejewski of Carmel, Nicole (Robert) O'Hara of Mishawaka, and Emily and Corey Andrzejewski of Mishawaka; a great-grandson, Zachary Hagedorn of South Bend; two brothers, Richard E. (Maxine) Andrzejewski of Mishawaka and Donald (Delores) Andrzejewski of South Bend.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, 289-1000, where a vigil service will begin at 4 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Christ Child Society or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Ed was a member of St. Monica's parish where he served as lector, American Legion Post 161, VFW Post 360, Knights of Columbus Mishawaka Council 1878, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 91, and was a United States Navy veteran serving on the USS Yukon.
