Helen L. Sucevich Andreae

Helen L. Sucevich Andreae, 93, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2006, in Springdale Village Care Center. Helen was born on June 16, 1912, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Francis and Anna (Ambrose) Lach. She was employed by Studebaker for 32 years and retired from Travelers Insurance in 1974. She was a 50-year member of the Valley Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #594 and served as Worthy Matron, a 50-year member of the Avalon Grotto Auxiliary and served as president. Helen was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church, its Ladies Auxiliary “Carica Milica” and was past president and godmother of the circle. She had been historian and reporter for the circle for over 23 years. Mrs. Andreae was also a member of the South Bend Court #11, Order of Amaranth, and served as Royal Matron of this order, also served as Grand Representative 22 times for Amaranth, she also served as Grand Representative of the Louisiana Grand Chapter in Indiana for two years. Helen also was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

 

On February 15, 1930, in South Bend, as Helen Lach, she married Emil Sucevich. He died on August 25, 1979. She married Ralph Andreae Sr. on November 17, 1983; he died on August 2, 1988. Helen was also preceded in death by a daughter, Natalie “Dolly” Marroni; two stepsons, Ralph Andreae Jr. and William Andreae; two sisters, Mary Lach and Margaret Putman; and a great-granddaughter. Surviving are a daughter, Millicent “Mitzi” (Robert) Infalt of Mesa, AZ; two stepsons, Bradlee (Carol) Andreae of South Bend, Robert (Mariellen) Andreae of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Michael (Ginger) Infalt, Robert (Michelle) Infalt, Barbara (Gregory) Penrose, Nancy (Frank) Miko, Susan (Mike) Snead and Lisa (Gary) Bragg; six step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Goldie Sloboda of South Bend.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2006, in Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to services in the church.
