SOUTH BEND - Dennis Murphy Anderson, 82, entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 28, 2010. He was born May 19, 1927 in Woodland, Mississippi, son of the late Dovie and Claude Anderson. He was united in marriage to Lenora Bobo Anderson. From that union nine children were born, Dorothy Anderson of Houston, TX, Barbara Anderson of South Bend, IN, Andrew Anderson, of South Bend, IN, Dennis Anderson Jr., of South Bend, IN, Deborah Anderson of Houston, TX, Patricia (Michael) Williams of Houston, TX, Daryl (Chari) Anderson of Lithonia, GA, Denise (Anthoni) Smith of South Bend, IN, and Lawanna Anderson of Indianapolis, IN. In addition to his wife and children, he leaves to forever cherish his memory eight sisters and two brothers, Sarah Beecham, Reatha Powell, Ida Boyd, Edna Williams, Joyce Eason, Frankie Anderson, Jo Ray (Leroy) Bates, Bobbie Ruth Windmon, Claude Anderson Jr. and Newt Gregory. His twelve loving grandchildren, Anthony Anderson of Houston, TX, Andre Anderson of Nashville, TN, Erica Peterson of Orlando, FL, Rashon Anderson of Houston, TX, Dachari Anderson of Tampa, FL, Dionna Anderson of Lithonia, GA, Michael Williams II of Houston, TX, Christopher Williams of Houston, TX, Aaron Williams of Houston, TX, Charles Williams of Houston, TX, Mikayla Williams of Houston, TX and Asia Carruthers of South Bend, IN; 10 great-grandchildren, Roman Anderson, Rashon Anderson Jr., Brea Anderson, Micah Anderson, Christian Love Anderson, Savannah Anderson, Andre Perez Anderson, Hannaniah Anderson, Azariah Anderson, Gabrielle Peterson. Two special aunts, Nora Anderson-Williams of Wilson, AR, and Juanita Anderson-Woodard of Chicago, IL. Dennis also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Dennis retired in 1988 after 40 years in the construction industry. He enjoyed gardening, playing solitaire and listening to Country-Western music. Services will be held in Alford's Mortuary on Friday, March 5, 2010. The visitation will take place at 11 a.m. and funeral services will be held at 12 noon. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary where messages of bereavement may be e-mailed to [email protected] c/o Anderson family.
