DAUGHTERS OF REBEKAH (

DAUGHTERS OF REBEKAH (Rebecca) Benevolent Society

The Odd Fellows, recognizing the need for a woman's touch and her helpfulness in carrying out the principles of Odd Fellowship, brought into being the Rebekah Degree, founded upon the principles of faithfulness, hospitality, purity and dedication to the principles of the Order as portrayed by women characters of the Bible.

The Degree as written by Schuyler has changed little from its inception. To this degree the wives, mothers and daughters of odd Fellows are eligible, and it is an auxiliary to the order in charitable work, etc

Organized in South Bend, IN, in 1851, as a female auxiliary to the ODD FELLOWS. The organization declined less rapidly than the Odd Fellow. Membership is presently around 215,000.
