Matchette Family Photo's


The Matchette family came to St. Joseph County before 1910. They settled in Mishawaka and have been here ever since.


William Courtney Matchett Family

William Courtney Matchett was the some of William Cowper Matchett and Mary V. A. Roler, he was born 19 Mar 1857, Benton, Elkhart, Indiana he marries on 09 Nov 1882 in St. Clair, MI. Alice Mabel Warner, born 13 May 1863, Algonac, Clay Twp., St. Clair County, Michigan to Stephen Warner and Caroline M. Steele. To this union there were 5 sons born;

James Warner; 06 Oct 1883 in Pierceton, Kos., Co., IN

Jesse D; 19 Mar 1887 in Pierceton, Kos., Co., IN

Owen Stephen; 15 May 1893 in Pierceton, Kos., Co., IN

Dean France; 10 Jun 1898 in Pierceton, Kos., Co., IN

Louis Warner; 04 Feb 1902 in Pierceton, Kos., Co., IN

William will pass away on 14 May 1935, in Mishawaka and Alice will pass 04 Jun 1933 they are both buried in the Fairview Cemetery.

William was a surgeon during the Civil War. William will eventually marry 3 other times after Alice and he divorced, his last marriage was to Della Kissinger. Alice will remary 4 times.


James Warner Matchett will mary Georgie Marie Vanwormer, daughter of Otis F. VanWormer and Ida Hammon, on 07 Sep 1908, in Pierceton, Indiana. To this union there were three children born. Thelma Beatrice, Mabel Alice, and Lloyd Arnold. Georgie and James will separate, their divorce became final on the day that he died. James is buried in the City Cemetery in Mishawaka. Georgie will remarry Charles Leonard Starret and they will have one child, Leonard Leroy Starrett (Babe).

James Matchette Succombs To Heat

James Matchett, aged 33, is the fourth victim to die in Mishawaka from the extreme heat. He suffered a prostration at noon Friday at his home 210 South Race Street, and died Monday morning at 7 o'clock.
Mr. Matchette was a baker by trade and was overcome by the heat while at work at the Kuss Bakery, and on arriving home at noon was completly prostrated.
Mr Matchett was born in Pierceton, Indiana, Oct. 6, 1883. He was marred 8 years ago in Warsaw to Miss Georgia Van Warner. The wife and three children survive. Also the father W. C. Matchette and four brothers. The family moved to Mishawaka five years ago.

 


Jesse D. Matchett married Anna Mae Cockran 12 Jun 1913, to this union they had a daughter Lucille B. Anna died 02 Feb 1924 here in Mishawaka unknown when or where Jesse died.


Owen Stephen married Rita Fae Bowerman, 25 Dec 1914 in Mishawaka and to this union there were four children; Paul Allen, Owen Stephen jr, Jack B., and David Lee.

Owen died 25 Dec 1959, in Sturgis, MI and Rita died 04 Aug 1963.

 


Dean France married Myrtle Ellen Woolet on 14 Nov 1918, in Mishawaka and to this union there were 6 children born; Darrell Dean, Dale Everett, Mary Alice, Richard Louis, Marion Wayne, and Marilyn Jean.

 

Dean died 10 Aug 1987 in Por Charlott, FL Myrtle died 09 Oct 1968 in Mishawaka


Louis Warner married Dorothy Ford and to this union they had one son James Eugene who was born in Mishawaka

Louis died, 03 Nov 1975 in Warsaw, IN.


Mabel, Stuntz, Thelma   Ralph (Doc) & Mabel 50th Anniversary

Mabel Alice Matchett the 2nd child of James Warner and Georgie Maire VanWormer married Ralph K. Gill in Mishawka on 29 Jul 1929. They had 9 children. (See Gill Family)
