2000 Indiana General Assembly |
||
During any General Assembly Session, a House
Bill must survive three readings before the House of Representatives,
a series of Committee meetings during which it may be altered or
amended and win a majority vote by the full House. The bill
must then be introduced before the Senate, where it must also survive
three
readings, Committee meetings and a final vote. Finally, if the
Senate makes any changes to the Bill, the changes must be ratified by the
House. Then, and only then, the ratified bill is submitted to the
Governor for execution into law. (For additional information on the
legislative process, see "How
a Bill Becomes a Law".)
