Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War
Memorial Day Celebrations May 31, 2004

The following pictures were taken at the David D. Porter Camp of the Sons of Union Veterans (SUV) of the Civil War Memorial Day Celebrations. They had two ceremonies that day, one being at the grave of Jacob Mooker at Kimball Cemetery in Liberty Township, Porter County. Jacob was the last Union Veteran to be buried in Porter County, having died at the age of 99 in 1941. He was wounded at Chickamauga. The second ceremony was at the Porter County Courthouse in Valparaiso. Al Loomis, a member of NWIGS, is the current Commander of the SUV. If you would like to know more about SUV, then please contact Al at [email protected] or 219-464-1332.
