In the mid 1890’s the Grand Jury of Marshall County indicted a number of county residents for harboring an animal of the dog kind without registering the same with the township trustee. Any dog over the age of three months required registration. Due to the lack of the 1890 census, information similar to this may be the only way we can place an ancestor in a given place at a given time.
