RESEARCH OF ARCHIVES & MUSEUM

"As a service to the community and to others probing the past, the Society is available for research and investigation.  Accumulated records are available as well as artifacts, and memorabilia."  The public is invited to take advantage of these services, as well as encouraged to become a member of the Society.

Members may use the resources of the museum at any time.  Appointments can be made for in-depth study of the society's vast supply of historical subjects.  Additionally, the Society has a committee which is "very knowledgeable in the science of genealogy and will be most happy to assist in finding Madison County family records".

MADISON COUNTY FAMILIES PROJECT

The Madison County Families Project was started in 1993, to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the formation of Madison County. We have quite an ancestral base established and want to continue collecting this data for future generations. We ask that you join us by adding your family information. Whether your family has been in this county 1, 10, 50 or over a 100 years we want everyone to register.

Fill out the attached five generation chart as completely as you can, using maiden names for the women. Please type or print clearly.

Discuss this chart with your family and together see how far back you can go. If you cannot complete the five generations use what you have, make a copy for yourself to work on later, then send us the chart and continue to work on filling in the blanks.

Make sure you fill in your name, address and phone number plus the date you filled out the chart. List your first ancestor in Madison County even if it is yourself, the date they/you came here and from where. That may not be where they/you were born. Also sign the statement giving us permission to publish this chart if we choose to do so.

We thank you for taking the time to honor your family by wanting to have their descendants on file with our society. Additional charts are available at our office or will be sent on request when a self-addressed stamped envelope is enclosed. Please return the charts to our office or to the class or organization that is participating in this project.

The charts will be housed in the genealogy section of the Madison County Historical Society, Inc.
