SENSATIONAL CASE ENDED

Defendant Was Accused of Trying to Kill Miss Cora Shawgo, a Pretty Elwood Girl- Evidence Was Circumstantial.

Anderson, Ind., Dec.10.- "We the jury, find the defendant not guilty," was the verdict read in the Circuit court this morning.

William Farr, the defendant smiled broadly when he heard the verdict, and he continued to smile as he arose and shook hands with every juror. The case, which has been a most sensational one, went to the jury at 5 o'clock Friday evening.

Farr was charged with assault and battery with intent to kill Miss Cora Shawgo, of Elwood. The shooting took place on the night of April 4 last, and five shots were fired through the window of William Long's residence and a ball grazed the arm of Miss Shawgo. Farr was accused of the shooting, it being alleged that he was in love with Miss Shawgo, and had made threats. The trial developed that Farr was not a lover of the girl. All the evidence was circumstantial.
