Yoder, Amos T. - 84, of Avilla and formerly of LaGrange County
died Tuesday June 26, 2007 at Parkview
Noble Hospital
in Kendallville, IN. Mr. Yoder was born on October 21, 1922 in LaGrange County
to Tobias A. and Ada D. (Mast) Yoder; the both precede him in
death. Living his lifetime in LaGrange and Steuben Counties,
he was a farmer
and raised chickens. Mr. Yoder was a World War II United States Army
Veteran, a
member of the LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and LaGrange Moose
Lodge. He is survived by his former wife
Dorothy
(Shipe) Yoder of Waterloo, IN whom he married on May 25, 1950; two
daughters
Ada Marie Yoder of Ashley, IN, Marla Sue Branstetter of Ft. Wayne, IN,
a son
and daughter-in-law Michael & Tara Yoder of Albion, IN, five
grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, six sisters and two
brother-in-laws Mary Troyer of Plain City, OH, Effie Troyer of Goshen,

& Lester Beachy of LaGrange, IN, Alice & Ezra Yoder of
Stratton, CO,
Ada Mae Yoder of Bremen, IN, and Esther Miller of LaGrange, IN, and

brothers Dan Yoder and Clarence Yoder both of Goshen, IN and Ernie
Yoder of
Shipshewana, IN. He was also preceded in death by two sisters Susie
Lehman and
Anna Yoder, three brothers Ervin, Raymond, and Levi Yoder, a grandson,
and a
great-grandson. Funeral services will be
held on Friday June 29, 2007 at 10:00 am at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange, IN
with the Rev. Carldean Merrifield officiating. Visitation will be held
on
Thursday June 28th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial

85, of LaGrange died Wednesday
January 31, 2007 at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
Mrs. Yoder was born on April 29, 1921 to Stuart and Alta (Toby) Mercer
in Sturgis, MI;
they both precede her in death. Living in LaGrange County
since 1948 she was a homemaker, a bookkeeper
for Topeka Truck Line in Topeka, IN and a Comptometer in Chicago,
IL and was a member of the LaGrange
1st United Methodist
Church in LaGrange, IN.
She was a graduate of Sturgis
High School in Sturgis,
MI and Comptometer
School in Chicago, IL.
On October 11, 1948 she was married to Don Wayne Yoder in Chicago, IL;
he preceded her in death on February 20, 2002. She is survived by
a daughter and son-in-law Jill and Rodney Scott of Ft.
Wayne, IN, a son and
daughter-in-law Jerry and Teresa Yoder of Coldwater, MI
and three grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by a daughter Diane Yoder in 1949 and a sister
Marian
“Billie” Mercer. Services will be held on Friday February 2, 2007
at 1:00 pm at the LaGrange 1st
United Methodist Church
with visitation from 11:00 am until the service time. Rev. Dexter
Garman will
officiate the service. Burial will be in Eden
Cemetery, Topeka, IN. Memorials may be made to the LaGrange 1st United Methodist Church.

Yoder, Cletus "Clete" J. - 59,
of Goshen, Indiana went to be with the Lord on
Monday
January 12, 2009. He was born on September 5, 1949 in Goshen, Indiana,
the son of late Joseph J. and Ida (Lehman)
Yoder. He was the youngest of seven siblings. On December 12,
1970 in Ft.
Wayne, IN. he
married Cheryl Linn Peck, she survives. He
served as the Practice
Administrator for Midwest Cardiology, Inc. in the nineteen nineties. He
was an employee of Goshen
Hospital and served for
several years
on the LaCasa Board in Goshen.
He is survived by his wife; daughter and
son-in-law, Jennifer and Tillman King of Goshen,
IN; daughter, Jeanette Yoder of Goshen, IN; grandchildren, Jackson and Andrew King of Goshen, IN; brother,

Yoder, Harley D. - 100, of
LaGrange died at 6 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, at his residence.
Mr.
Yoder was a farmer. He was a member of Emma Mennonite
Church, where he
served
as trustee for many years. He also volunteered many years at the
Mennonite
Relief Sale and for Mennonite Central Committee doing meat canning and
other
projects. He was born Nov. 14, 1907, at his current home
in
LaGrange to Daniel V. Yoder and Fanny (Yoder) Yoder. On Feb. 14,
1931, in
Middlebury he married Letha Nancy Pletcher. She died May 28,
1988.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Eugene and
Catherine Yoder
of Shipshewana and Dean Jay and Linda Yoder of Elkhart;
a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Maxine and John Weaver of Goshen; 12
grandchildren, 28
great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was
preceded
in death by his parents; two sisters, Mabel Miller and Violetta
Mishler; three
brothers, Albert, Elva and Leo Yoder; and a daughter-in-law, Lois
Yoder.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Emma Mennonite
Church, with the
Rev.
Gene Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery
in Shipshewana. Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Emma Mennonite Church.

2006 at her home. Mrs. Yoder was born on

Living her lifetime in LaGrange County she was a homemaker, had her own
interior decorating service, and had worked for the Shipshewana Fitness
Center.
She was a member of the Marion
Mennonite Church
and enjoyed gardening. On July 12, 1969
she married Dennis D. Yoder in Topeka,
IN; he survives. Also surviving are a daughter Laura Yoder of Valparaiso, IN,
two sons

F. - 12,
of LaGrange, died, Saturday, July 14, 2007 as the result of injuries
sustained
in a wagon accident on Hawpatch
Road in LaGrange County. He was born on September 14, 1994 to Ferman
and Vera Mae (Miller) Yoder. They survive in LaGrange.
Marion was a
member of the Old
Order Amish
Church and a
student who
had just completed the 5th grade this last school year.
Also surviving are 2 sisters, Mary Beth and
Norma Jean Yoder; 3 brothers, Wayne Ray, Ernest J. and Samuel F. Yoder
all
living at home in LaGrange; Maternal Grandparents, Orva H. and Freeda

Elroy - 92, of Anthony,
Kansas, and formerly of Goshen,
died Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Anthony Hospital.
He was born in Topeka,
Indiana,
on February 22, 1916, to Maurine and Zora (Coldren) Yoder.
He married Elaine S. Plank on October 7,
1039, in Goshen. She died November 16, 2005. A
graduate of Goshen High School,
Mr. Yoder attended Fort
Wayne Business
School. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War
II. He managed and then owned Goshen
Stamping and Tool Company until 1978 when he retired.
Mr. Yoder was a
member of United Church of Christ, Goshen Moose Lodge, Goshen Masonic
Lodge and
Rotary Club. He traveled around the
country judging for the National Beagle Association and writing for
Beagle
magazines. He is survived
by a daughter, Roberta (James) Von Itter of Anthony, Kansas;
five grandchildren; 13 grt-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard
(Carol)
Yoder of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded
in death by his wife, “Suzie”; a son, John M. Yoder; a daughter,
Virginia
Peich; two brothers, Von and Donald Yoder; and two sisters, Phyllis
Farrington
and Roberta Yoder. A memorial
service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Saturday,
January 24, 2009,
beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private
graveside service and burial will be held in Violett

Maurice A. -
79, of LaGrange, died Friday, November 30, 2007 at The
Maples in Goshen, IN. He was a self-employed Dairy Farmer and had
moved
to LaGrange in 1966 from White Pigeon, MI. He was a member of the Emma Mennonite Church.
Maurice also
belonged to the Holstein Association of America, the Indiana Holstein
Association, the Arabian Horse Association and the Cheviot Sheep
Association. He was born on July 7, 1928 in Wellman, Iowa
to the late Quinton and Edith (Yoder) Yoder. On February 20, 1952 he
married
Doris D. (Cummings) in Elkhart,
IN. She survives in
LaGrange. Also surviving are three daughters and son-in-laws,
Cheryl and
Jack Nelson of Shipshewana, IN; Kim and Jim Graves of Goshen, IN and
Kelly and
Tim Miller of Middlebury, IN; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry and
Martha
Yoder of LaGrange, IN and Gary and Dawn Yoder of LaGrange, IN; 15
grandchildren

Yoder, Mrs. Mae
(Worthy) - 74, of Shipshewana, died
at 6:15 p.m. Friday (4-16-1970) in the War Memorial
Hospital, Saulte
Saint
Marie, MI. She had been in the hospital for the past four days,
following
failing health for several months. She was born April 29, 1895, in Michigan, and
had lived
for the past 50 years in this area. She was married January 2, 1917, to
Fora
Yoder. He died in 1952. She was an employee of the Shipshewana State
Bank for
16 years, retiring in 1968. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Freda
Gravelle and
Mrs. Lois Duncan, both of Saulte Saint Marie, and two brothers, Earl
Worthy of
Saulte Saint Marie, and Harold Worthy of Detroit.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday (4-20-1970) in the United Methodist Church,
Shipshewana. Rev.
George Dinwiddie will officiate. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery.

- "LaGrange County Man" - - Noted U.S.
Scientist Dies" - Following is the account from the Washington D. C.
Sunday Star of July 21, of the life and death of Dr. Peter A. Yoder, a
LaGrange
Co., product, who has rendered distinguished service for some years as
a
scientist for the United States Government. Dr. Yoder,
scientist and
writer, for 20 years an agricultural chemist, and technologist in the
Unites
States Bureau of Plant Industry, Department of Agriculture, died at his
home,
2503 Hall Place yesterday afternoon from a complication of
diseases. He
had been ill since Feb., following a general breakdown caused by
overwork. Born at Shipshewana,
Ind., August 21, 1867, Dr. Yoder
worked during most of
his early life on a farm, then worked his way through Indiana University.
After graduation, Dr. Yoder engaged in chemical and agricultural
investigations
for two years at the agricultural and experiment station at Logan, Utah.
In 1907-08 he traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and Australia
studying agricultural conditions. While on the trip he was
awarded a
degree from the University of
Gottingon, Germany,
and also received one from the University of Chicago.
Upon
returning to this country, Dr. Yoder took up chemical and technical
work
regarding the treatment of the sugar cane of Louisiana, continuing
until called
to the Bureau of Plant Industry in 1910, where he has remained ever
since. In addition to his work as an agricultural chemist and
technologist, Dr. Yoder was the author of numerous books on chemistry
and
agriculture. He was also a member of the Washington Academy of
Science,
the American Society of Agronomy, and the Botanical Society of
Washington. Surviving him is his widow, Mrs. Amelia A. Yoder; two
sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of Middlebury, Ind., and Mrs. Mary
Powell of
Shipshewana, Ind., and four brothers, Moses A. and Levi R. of
Middlebury, Ind.;
Menno S. Yoder of Shipshewana and Daniel R. Yoder of Goshen, Ind.
Funeral
services will be held from A. J. Shippert's Chapel, 2008 Pennsylvania Ave.,
at 2 o'clock

Yoder, Robert Lee - 70, of LaGrange, IN
died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Mr. Yoder was
born in Sturgis, MI on May 9, 1941 to Howard W. and Mary F.
(Kline) Yoder. Mr. Yoder lived the majority of his life in LaGrange County
except for a short time when he lived in New Haven,
IN and the time he spent at his summer home in
Columbus, Mont.
He was an industrial electrician having worked for Uniroyal Goodrich in Woodburn, IN, Electri-Tec
in Angola,
IN, and Magnavox of Fort Wayne, IN. A 1959 graduate of LaGrange
High School, he continued his
education by graduating from DeVry
Technical College.
In 1976 he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geology from Indiana
University in Fort Wayne, IN. Mr. Yoder was a former Eagle Scout and enjoyed
scouting activities and camping. He enjoyed stamp collecting, Civil War
re-enacting, had authored two volumes about the soldiers of LaGrange County
from the Civil War, and at one time he raced stock cars. Mr. Yoder attended the
First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, IN. On June 24, 1962 in LaGrange, IN he married
Sandra K. Connelly; she survives in LaGrange,
IN. Also surviving are a son and
daughter-in-law, Troy and Lola Yoder of LaGrange, IN; four grandchildren and
their spouses, Jesse and Heidi Yoder, Amber Belcher, Dustin and Misty Yoder,
and Matthew and Sadie Yoder; twelve great-grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, and
Ivee Belcher, Hunter, Tyler, Isabella, Kaylee, Bree, Haylee, Landon, Braedon,
and Brock Yoder; a sister, Carolyn Huser of Austin, TX; four sisters-in-law and
their husbands, Diane and Fritz Schlemmer of LaGrange, IN, Susan and Mark
Dempsey of LaGrange, IN, Ann and Tom Pomeroy of Columbus, Mont., and Sherry and
Bob Ballard of Howe, IN; a brother-in-law and his wife, Roger and Sherry
Connelly of Three Rivers, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by his parents, Howard and Mary Yoder, and a brother-in-law, Sam

Yoder, Ruby F. (Yoder)
- 98 years of Goshen, died at
12:20 a.m. Monday (Sept. 22,
2008) in The Maples at Waterford Crossing.
She was born June 15, 1910, in LaGrange County,
to Menno J. and Martha Elizabeth (Smith) Yoder. On Nov. 21, 1923, she
married
Eli H. Yoder in Topeka.
He died Aug. 2, 1979. Mrs. Yoder is survived by two daughters, Rosalie
(R.
Dale) Miller of Goshen and Sara Detweiler of Rock
Island,
Ill.; three grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rozella Fahlsing of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, David Detweiler in
April
1998; two brothers, Raphael and Ralph Yoder; and four sisters, Ruth
Yoder,
Retha and Rachel Miller and Ramah Wingard. Mrs.
Yoder was a homemaker and a member of Bonneyville Mennonite
Church.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today
at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.
Private family funeral
services will be officiated by the Rev. John Schrock. Burial will be in
Grace Lawn Cemetery.
