Ervin Kime, 48, of Howe died last Wednesday, December 06, 1961, in the LaGrange County Hospital following an illness of 2 years (cancer). He was born February 27, 1913, in Clay twp, of LaGrange to Ola Viva (Viola) Kime and Clarence Lester Myers. He was married on October 10, 1931, to Mildred Harris in LaGrange. Surviving besides the wife are 2 sons, Robert and Willard, both of Howe, 5 daughters, Mrs. Gaylord Penn of Sturgis, Mrs. Paul Marks of LaGrange and Norma, Patty and Janet, all at home, a foster mother, Blanche Kime; a sister, Mrs. Sam Waters of LaGrange, and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Shoup Funeral Home in Howe with the Rev. William Foster, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Sturgis, officiating. Burial was held in the Riverside Cemetery in Howe.

Last rites for Thomas J. Kime, 84, of Howe, past away on October 9,
1952, were held at Shoup Funeral Home at Howe Sunday afternnon at 2 o'clock.
Rev. Ray Noland, pastor of the Shipshewana Methodist Church officiated
and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Howe. Mr. Kime's death ocurred
at his home in Howe last Thursday evening. He had been bedfast nine weeks.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ola Reading, Colon, Michigan, and Miss
Blanche Kime, Howe, with whom he made his home; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa
Fought of Topeka, and Mrs. Anna Auton of Union City; and four brothers,
Joseph of Colon, Ernest of Hillsdale, Michigan, Ora of Sturgis, and Thurman
of California. Mr. Kime was born in Clay twp., LaGrange Co., on June 14,
1868. His marriage to Susan Roop ocurred Feb. 19, 1892, and she preceded
him in death several years ago. Mr. Kime farmed and for 26 years worked
at the Howe Military School. He had retired from active work a number of
years ago.

Death of Mrs. Kime
Mrs. Thomas J. Kime, about 45 years old, died Thursday morning, March
20, 1924, about half past 1 o'clock, at her home in Howe. She had been
sick for 6 to 7 weeks. She leaves a husband, two daughters, and one son.
One of the daughters lives in Sturgis. Mr. and Mrs. Kime had made their
home in Howe for several years, coming there from their country home west
of that town. Arrangements have been made for the funeral to be held Sunday
afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Willard Kime, Dead. Funeral of Howe boy was held last Saturday.
Funeral services for Willard G. Kime, who died at his father's home
in Howe on Wednesday night of last week, November 4, 1925, were held at
the home last Saturday afternoon, and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery,
his body being laid beside that of his mother, who passed away 2 years
ago. Willard was born in Clay twp, October 16, 1903, and came to Howe with
his parents 7 years ago. He was a young man of a quiet and friendly nature,
patiently suffering the last 4 months with tuberculosis. He leaves to mourn
his loss his father, Thomas Kime, two sisters, Blanche at home and Mrs.
Clarence Jones of Sturgis, a nephew, Ervin of Howe and many other relatives
and a host of friends.

Blanche Mae Kime, 93, of 407 6th Street, Howe, died Tuesday, June 13, 1989 at Froh Nursing Home. She was born March 12, 1897 in Clay twp, the daughter of Thomas and Susan (Roop) Kime. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Mildred Kime of Howe, with whom she made her home. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Shoup-Carney-Frost Funeral Home in Howe. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the charity of your choice.

Kenneth Harold Plank, 61, of Goshen died of an
apparant heart attack Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the yard of his home. He was
born in Shipshewana August 3, 1910, the son of Delphos and Della (Hart)
Plank. He was married in 1939, to Gertrude Elizabeth Bush, who survives.
Also surving are two brothers, Sherman of Topeka and Hersel of Shipshewana;
a sister, Mrs. Harold (Evelyn) Saggers of Shipshewana Lake; a son, Nicholas
Harold Plank of Nappanee; three daughters, Mrs. Howard (Sue) David of Goshen,
Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Hill of Elkhart, and Nancy at home; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Blocker-Harris Fifth
Street Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Mosier officiating. Burial was in the
Violett Cemetery. (The only date was handwritten Sept. 28, 1971)

Carl Vern Crampton, 63, a farmer, died unexpectedly
Monday afternoon at his home near White Pigeon (MI). Services were conducted
this afternoon at the White Pigeon Methodist Church. Burial was made in
the church cemetery nearby. He is survived by a son, Lee of Midland; a
daughter, Mrs. Harley Finch of Sturgis; two grandchildren and a sister,
Miss Erma Crampton of Scott. He was a native of Scott and lived there until
his marriage. (The only reference was handwritten date Sept 9, 1957)

Willard E. Murray, 80, of Shipshewana, route 1,
died Saturday at 5 a.m. (10-11-1969) in the LaGrange County Hospital where
he had been taken Friday afternoon for observation and tests. He suffered
from a heart condition. He was born in VanBuren Township, LaGrange County,
August 30, 1889, the son of William and Lydia (Neff) Murray. He was married
March 7, 1912 to Ocie Davis, who preceded him in death April 2, 1930. He
married Ruth Metz Weddle, March 26, 1935. Surviving are his wife, four
sons, Roscoe of Shipshewana, William of Northridte, CA., Willard E. Jr,
of White Pigeon, MI, and Brice Weddle of Norwalk, CA; three daughters,
Mrs. James (Roberta) Markley of Shipshewana, Mrs. Vera Knowles of Elkhart
and Mrs Henry (Rachel) Celmer of Van Nyes, CA; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;
one brother, Harold E. of East Gadsen, AL., and one sister, Mrs. Hulda
Renbarger of Sturgis, MI. One brother, Edward, preceded him in death. Funeral
services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Shipshewana United Methodist
Church with the Rev. George Dinwiddle, pastor, officiating. Burial was
in the Keightley Cemetery.

Elmer F. Murray of Akron, N.Y., son of the late
John Franklin and Barbara Neff Murray, was born June 12, 1889 near Shipshewana,
and died February 11, 1971, in the Genesee Memorial Hospital, Batavia,
N.Y., of complications resulting from a broken hip. He was married November
24, 1911, to Lydia Ann Hooley, who survives. Also surviving are 14 children;
Gerald Murray and Mrs. Crist (Joella) Ttroyer, both of Indiana; Capt. Elmer
Murray, Jr. and Mrs. Elmer (Gladys) Peebles of New York, Mrs. A. B. (Grace)
Nelson of LaGrange; Mrs. Daniel (Ruth) Mawhinney of New Jersey; Mrs. Ralph
(Blanche) Hartzler; Franklin Murray, Joseph Murray, Mrs. G. H. (Doris)
Klingelsmith, Mrs. Ray (Orpha) Miller; Paul Murray, and Mrs. Floyd (Shirley)
Miller all of New York; and John Murray of Indiana. Others surviving are
three older sisters; Mrs. Anna Poyser, Mrs. Zoa Hagerty and Mrs. Mary Ford,
all of Michigan, 42 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
Two brothers, James and Clarence, preceded him in death. Funeral services
were held February 14 at the Clarence Center Mennonite Church, Akron, N.Y.,
with Pastor Howard S. Bauman, and a former pastor, D. Edward Deiner officiating.
Interment was in the Good Cemetery, Greiner Road, Clarence, N.Y.

Willard "Pood" Murray, Jr., 56, Route 2, died
at 3 p.m. Tuesday at home. He was ill for four months. He was born September
24, 1921, in Shipshewana, and married A. Lucille Kull in 1949. She survives
with one son, Terrance Darr, one daughter, Mrs. William (Jacqueline) Walsh,
both of White Pigeon; one brother Roscoe, Shipshewana; three sisters, Mrs.
Vera Knowles, Elkhart, Mrs. Henry (Rachel) Celmer, California, and Mrs.
James (Roberta) Markley, Shipshewana, one step-brother, Brice Weddle, California;
his step-mother, Mrs. Willard Murray, Shipshewana, and seven grandchildren.

Arthur Frederick Hubbard, 85, Shipshewana, died
in the LaGrange County Hospital at 9:45 a.m. Monday (5-20-1957). He had
been a patient at the hospital for the past six weeks. A lifelong resident
of LaGrange County, Mr. Hubbard was born March 6, 1872, and was a dealer
in used equipment. A bachelor, he was survived by nephews, nieces, and
a sister-in-law. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (5-22-1957) in
the Yoder Funeral Home, Middlebury. Rev. Laverne Skinner, pastor of the
Shipshewana Methodist Church, was in charge. Burial was in Bethel cemetery.

Mrs. Mae Yoder, 74, of Shipshewana, died at 6:15
p.m. Friday (4-16-1970) in the War Memorial Hospital, Saulte Saint Marie,
MI. She had been in the hospital for the past four days, following failing
health for several months. She was born April 29, 1895, in Michigan, and
had lived for the past 50 years in this area. She was married January 2,
1917, to Fora Yoder. He died in 1952. She was an employee of the Shipshewana
State Bank for 16 years, retiring in 1968. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
Freda Gravelle and Mrs. Lois Duncan, both of Saulte Saint Marie, and two
brothers, Earl Worthy of Saulte Saint Marie, and Harold Worthy of Detroit.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday (4-20-1970) in the United Methodist Church,
Shipshewana. Rev. George Dinwiddie will officiate. Burial will be in Shore
Cemetery.

Rollo Irwin Dunker, 58, of Route 2, White Pigeon
(MI), died Saturday evening at the Three Rivers, MI Hospital. Mr. Dunker
was born September 11, 1899, at Shipshewana IN. He owned and operated a
gasoline station at White Pigeon until a year ago. He was a member of the
Methodist Church at White Pigeon. Mr. Dunker is survived by his wife, Carrie;
a daughter, Mrs. Alice Marasco, Chicago IL; a brother, William Dunker of
Shipshewanap a sister, Mrs. George Ross, of Elkhart IN; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Monday with the Rev. Donald Sailor
officiating. Burial will be at White Pigeon Cemetery. (No date of death

Sidney E. Markley, 63, of Shipshewana, route
1, died Sunday, July 29, 1962, in the LaGrange County Hospital following
an illness of three years. He was born September 13, 1898, in Cromwell
(IN) and had lived in LaGrange County for the last 60 years. His marriage
to Rena Nelson was solomnized December 29, 1919, in VanBuren Township.
He was a member of the Scott Methodist Church. Survivintg are his wife;
three sons, Sidney E. Jr. of Cromwell, Dwayne of Mottville (MI) and James
of Shipshewana; four daughters, Mrs. Leonard Larson of LaGrange, Mrs. Glen
Baldwin of Shipshewana, Mrs. Ralph Harter of Leonidas (MI), and Maxine
Markley, at home; 12 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Fred Wheeler of Elmsford,
N.Y. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon (8-1-1962) in the Scott
Methodist Church with the Rev. Ernest Cobbs officiating. Burial was in
Scott Cemetery.

Eugene H. Davis, 73, of Shipshewana, died Wednesday
(9-19-1962) at the LaGrange County Hospital, where he had been admitted
Wednesday. He had been ill since March, 1962. Mr. Davis was born in Shipshewana
February 10, 1889, and married the former Annetta Ritter June 4, 1924.
She died August 4, 1959. Formerly a farmer, Mr. Davis was last employed
by the Shipshewana Live Stock Auction. Surviving are a son, Leonard E.
Davis, Ft Wayne; a brother, Niles H. Davis, Shipshewana; two sisters, Mrs.
Eldon Hostetler, Elkhart, and Mrs. Josie Norris, Sturgis (MI), and a grandchild.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Howe Presbyterian Church. Burial
will be in Keightley Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Anna E. Poyser, 89, Route 4, died Friday afternoon
in Froh Community Home, where she had been a patient for several years.
She had resided with her daughter for 26 years prior to admittance at the
nursing facility. She was born in LaGrange County IN May 26, 1883, the
daughter of Frank and Barbara (Neff) Murray. She was married to Charles
Poyser, November 27, 1902, in LaGrange County. Mrs. Poyser was a member
of the Church of God. Surviving are one son, Murray, Wolcottville IN; one
daughter, Mrs. Frances Harter, Sturgis MI; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildrenp
and two sisters, Mrs. Zoa Hagarty, White PigeonMI; and Mrs. Glen (Mary)
Ford, Kalamazoo MI.

Daniel Peter Hershberger was born in Holmes
County, Ohio, December 29, 1843, and died at his home in Shipshewana 9
p.m. Friday, March 7, 1919, age 75 years, 2 months and 8 days. His death
was caused by paralysis. The first attack came in August of 1917 and since
August of last year he was not able to make his daily trips to the stores.
Most of this time he was confined to his bed. He leaves to hourn his death
a large family - the widow, six sons, three daughters, twenty-eight grandchildren
and six brothers. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church,
of which he was a member, on Tuesday morning, March 11th, Rev. Hayes preaching
the funeral sermon. Burial took place at the Keightly graveyard.

Mrs. Martha Magdaline Hershberger, 84, widow
of D.P. Hershberger, died Wednesday at the home of a son, E.D. Hershberger,
of near Kalona IA. Mrs. Hershberger, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian
Farmwald, was born June 10, 1847, near Millersburg, Holmes County OH. On
March 4, 1866, she was married to W.P. Hershberger in Holmes County OH
and a few years later moved to Indiana and settled on a farm near what
is now known as Scott IN. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Hershberger moved to Shipshewana,
where the former died in 1918. In 1925 she gave up housekeeping and divided
her time between the previously mentioned son and a daughter, Mrs. Jacob
Bell of Elkhart.

Hiram Hershberger, aged sixty, of Goshen
IN died last Monday morning in a hospital at Oshkosh WI. Mr. Hershberger
went to Oshkosh last fall, following the death of his wife, to visit his
brother, Leo D. Hershberger, and family. It was while he was there that
he was stricken with aprplexy, and had been in the hospital since.

Mrs. Grace Maria Hurst, wife of J. Alvin Hurst,
and daughter of Mrs. David S. Wagner, passed away at the Sturgis Memorial
Hospital on Tuesday, January 5, 1932, at 9:45 p.m. She had undergone an
operation for appendicitis and complications followed the operation.

JOHN W. KIME, Seventy-Nine, Seventy Years in County, Dead From
Apoplexy.
Friends may call at the Farrant Funeral Home, where services will be
at 11 a.m. Friday (MI time) with the Rev. James Parker of the Stone Lake
Church of God officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be at the Keightley
Cemetery, Shipshewna. (This is from newspaper article May 9, 1978)
Mr. Aishe was born in LaGrange County June 6, 1870, and married the
former Mary L. Wolfe, April 19, 1889. Mrs. Aishe died October 18, 1956.
Surviving are two sons, Floyd Aishe, Elkhart, and Claire Aishe, Shipshewana;
three grandaughters; four great grandchildren; two brothers, George Aishe,
Raleigh, N.C., and William Aishe, Morley, MI; and sister, Mrs. Barbara
Wagoner, Howe.
Mr. Aishe was born April 7, 1903. Pallbrearers will be Eli Bontrager,
Gordon Smith, Ross Scott, Lester Pletcher, Elmer Glick and Woodrow Hostetler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keightley Hulbert, Paul Riddick, David Fiandt,
Jesse Bruce, William H Hostetler, Sr., and Robert Bowen.
Fry, an employee of Parkwood Mobile Homes of Bristol, had taken a load
of trailers to Ogdenburg, N.Y. and was on his way home when the accident
occured at 4 a.m. The truck he was driving crashed through guard rails
on a bridge, then fell several feet to a railroad bed. Investigating officers
said the cab landed on its roof.
Fry was born in Summer County, KS, March 23, 1924, and was married
February 14, 1946, to Wilma Bontrager, who survives. Also surviving are
six children, Levi of Shipshewana, and Edna, Anna, Irene, Elton, and Ruby,
all at home; his mother, Mrs. Christian J. Miller of Shipshewana; two brothers,
Levi of Topeka and Amos of Cloverdale, OR, and three sisters, Mrs. Katie
Bontrager, Mrs. Lizzie Bontrager and Mrs. Mary Weaver, all of Topeka.
Funeral services were held Saturday (10-11-1969) at 11 a.m. at the
Ezra Miller residence with Bishop Clemens Miller and Crist L. Miller officiating.
Burial was in Keightley Cemetery.
Mrs. Zoa Haggerty, 88, 205 Elm St., died Sunday morning at the home
of her daughter, in Roseburg, OR, after a short illness. She was born in
Shipshewana, IN, June 24, 1885, a daughter of John F. and Barbara (Neff)
Murray. Mrs. Hagerty had resided in Elkhart, IN for 44 years, the remainder
of her life was spent in the White Pigeon (MI) area. She was a graduate
of Shipshewana High School in 1903 and taught school in LaGrange County
for five years before her marriage to Ray Hagerty in 1908. He died in February
of 1970. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Elkhart.
Surviving are a son, Elmer, White Pigeon; a daughter, Mrs. Milo (Irma)
Godfrey, Roseburg, OR; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and
a sister, Mrs. Glen (Mary) Ford, Kalamazoo. Services will be held at 1:30
p.m. Tuesday, in the Farrand Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Stillson
officiating. Burial will take place in White Pigeon Cemetery.
He was born near Topeka (IN) March 3, 1901, the son of John D. and
Lucrettia (Renner) Christner. Christner, a farmer, moved in 1944 from Scott,
north of Shipshewana, to his present home.
He was married March 28, 1924, to Mary Howard, who survives. Also surviving
are two daughters, Mrs. C. Gene (Velma) Sherck of LaGrange and Mrs. Keith
(Ruby) Notestine of Elkhart; three sons, Rollin of Syracuse, Lawrence of
Fort Wayne and Duaine of Goshen; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
a brother, Dana of LaGrange, and three sisters, Mrs. Glen (Luella) S. Troyer
of LaGrange, Mrs. Everett (Verona) Barness of Scott and Mrs. Lloyd (Beulah)
Mockler of Middlebury.
Funeral services were held yesterday (11-18-1970) at 10:30 a.m. in
the Fruip Funeral Home in LaGrange with the Rev. Ted Rigdon of Mooresville,
and the Rev. Robert Fields, pastor of the LaGrange Church of God, officiating.
Burial was in the Woodruff Cemetery, northeast of Wolcottville.

Mrs. Hershberger, who was preceeded in death by two children, is survived

a sister, Mrs. Amanda Yoder of Orville OH, 30 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The body will arrive in Elkhart Friday noon and will be removed to the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bell. The funeral will be held t 1:30 p.m. Saturday
at the Prairie Street Mennonite Church, Elkhart, and at the Keightley Cemetery
near Shipshewana where the casket will be opened at the grave for the benefit
of friends from that community. The Rev. J.S. Hartzler of Elkhart will
officiate.
Frank Hubbard passed away Wednesday morning, November 26, at Three
Rivers MI following an illness with cancer. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Hubbard and was born in LaGrange County, March 10, 1862. He leaves
two sisters, Frs. F.D. Lampman of White Pigeon MI and Mrs. Emma Malone
of Shipshewana, and three brothers, Arthur and John Hubbard of Shipshewana,
and Joseph Hubbard of Three Rivers MI. Funeral services were held Friday
morning at ten o'clock at the church in Shipshewana. Burial was made at
the Bethel Cemetery east of Shipshewana.
Mr. Hershberger leaves a son, his mother, Mrs. Daniel P. Hershberger,
four brothers, and two sisters, Mrs Daniel Deutsche of Illinois and Mrs.
Jacob Bell of Elkhart IN. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon of
this week in Goshen.
Mrs. Elizabeth Engel, 82, mother of Grover C. Engel of 1007 Fulton
Street, with whom she made her home for several years before going in November
of 1927 to the Mennonite Home for the Aged at Eureka IL, died in that home
at 5 o'clock this morning. The body is to be brought here tomorrow, and
the funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Methodist Church at a time
not yet determined. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery, beside the grave of
a grandson, Theron Engel. The Rev. E.R. Garrison will officiate.
Mrs. Engel, who was the widow of William Engel, was born November 17,
1855, in Holmes County OH, the daughter of Abraham and Harriett Farver.
She spent her childhood on a farm near Shipshewana. Following her marriage
in 1881 she lived in Medina OH, until 1897, then lived in Middlebury several
years before coming to Elkhart to live with her son. She was bedfast ever
since breaking both legs in a fall at the Mennonite Home eight years ago,
afflicated with rheumatism and complications. She was a member of the Methodist
Church at Middlebury until she transferred her membership to the Mennonite
Churck at Eugeka. Surviving beside the son are a grandaughter, Mrs. Maurine
Bills of 1007 Fulton Street; two brothers, John Farver of Shipshewana and
Dr. M.A. Farver of Middlebury; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Troyer of near Shipshewana
and Mrs. George Renner of Ligonier IN, and a half-sister, Mrs. Sylvia Hostetler,
who lives on the old Farver homestead near Shipshewana. A daughter, Lilly
Pearl, died in 1895 at the age of 12 years, in Medina OH
Mrs. Hurst was born in LaGrange County May 8, 1907, and was 24 years,
5 months and 27 days old. She is survived by her husband and a little daughter,
Beverly Jane, 22 months old. Other survivors are: her mother; Mrs. Martha
Wagner, three sisters and two brothers. The young couple made their home
at the Charles Hurst residence.
The funeral was held at the Evanglical church at Crampton's Corners
Friday afternoon. The service was conducted by the Rev. G.W. Grantham,
pastor of the Marion Church of which she ws a member. Burial was made in
the Sidener Cemetery.
