William  Blount Sr. and Mary (McCoy) Blount
 William Blount Sr. purchased the n/w 1/4 of
Section 28,
Twp. 17, Range 10, being 160 acres
 on 17 Oct. 1821. This was in Henry Township and his Co.
of residence  at the time of this
purchase is listed as being
Wayne Co.  Indiana.


William Blount Sr. also purchased the e/ne part of
Section 31, Twp. 17, Range 11, being 80
acres on the same date, same Township.

 
Andrew was a Veteran of the War of 1812
Founder of the town of Blountsville and the first
to purchase land in Stoney Creek Twns.
Henry Co.
Andrew Blount purchased the e/nw part of
Section 35,
Twp. 19, Range 11, being 80 acres on
 11 Nov. 1822. His Co. of residence is listed
as being Wayne Co. at the time of  this purchase.
This was the first and only purchase of land in
Stony Creek Twp. for that year. Andrew's
cabin was the only dwelling here until 3 or 4 more
settlers arrived a year or two later.
Additonally, Andrew purchased the e/ne part of
Section 35, Twp 19, Range 11, being 80
acres on 23 July 1833
and
the sw/se part of Section 26, Twp. 19, Range 11,
being 40 acres on 19 Oct. 1833.

Note: Sarah (Williams) Warren was condemned by the
Quaker church for marrying out of
unity when she married James Warren.

I was looking at cemeteries for Henry County, Indiana, where some of my ancestors are buried in the Bloutsville Cemetery. I found under Finch, Mary (Blount) died 16 Jan 1871. It states that she was married to John Finch, son of Thomas Hamilton and Elitha (Hallaman - sp) Finch who is buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wayne County, Indiana. This is also in the genealogical line in the Blount Family History [on the Henry Co. InGenWeb Page.] This John Finch was not her husband. Whe was married to a John Finch who was the son of Milton/Millington Finch and Elizabeth (Betsy) Harvel Finch. It is very confusing as both Johns were born about the same time in Surry County, North Carolina and always lived in the same area.

Mary A. Blount was the daughter of Andrew R. Blount and Sarah "Sally" Warren Blount, born 10 June 1819, Blountsville, Henry County,Indiana, died 16 Jan 1871, and buried in Blountsville Cemetery, Henry County,Indiana. Married 13 August 1835 to John Finch, son of Millington (Milton) Finch and Elizabeth (Betsy) Harvel Finch. He was born 23 August 1815 in Surry County, North Carolina, and died in 1909 and is supposed to be buried in the Finch Cemetery or Blountsville Cemetery. He had a second marriage to Maria Conway on 8 Jan 1877.

John Finch, son of Thomas Hamilton Finch and Elitha "Lethey" Holliman, was born 4 Feb 1813, in Surry County, North Carolina. He died 23 May 1865 in Wayne County, Indiana, and is buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wayne County, Indiana. He was married 18 June 1837 in Wayne County, Indiana, to Cynthia Barnes, daughter of Adam Barnes and Rhoda Lee Barnes. She died 5 July 1903 in Mt. Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa, at the home of her son, Luther. She is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
