Blountsville is located in Stony Creek Township in
the northeast corner of Henry County Indiana.
It's geographic location is, Town 19 N., Range 11 E,
Sections: 25 through 29
and
Sections: 32 through 36.
It is named for it's founder and the first
to purchase land in Stony Creek Township,
Andrew Blount.

 
 The Blount Family
Andrew Blount was 29, when he ventured
 from his home in Wayne County Indiana to newly
formed Henry County and entered the first land
 purchase of 80 acres, in Section 35 of
Stony Creek Township, founding the
town of Blountsville.
 The date was 11 Nov. 1822.
Many other hearty settlers were soon to
follow his lead and before long, Blountsville
began to grow and flourish.

 
 Andrew Blount was a veteran of
the War of 1812. He is listed in the rolls of
Capt. William Holeman's Co., of Indiana Militia, in
Wayne County Indiana..
Enlisted, 28 Nov. 1812.
Discharged, 28 Feb. 1813.
Before coming to Henry County, Andrew married
Sarah (Sally) Warren, on March 7, 1816 in
Wayne Co. Indiana.

He, along with some of his descendants, are buried
in the Blountsville Cemetery, located within
the town of Blountsville. It is one of the oldest
cemeteries in Henry County which is still in use.

Rogersville
Stony Creek Township

The villiage of Rogersville has all but vanished now
except for a few houses and it's cemetery
located on Section 5, on Messick Rd. at the
Northwest edge of town.
The town itself, is located only a few miles
from Blountsville. It is Town 18N, Range 11E,
Sections: 1 through 5
and
Sections 8 through 12

It was founded in 1837 by James O. Rogers
and John R. Colburn and named after Mr. Rogers.
Luellen farm when , in August of 1836, the first
burial, that of, Rebecca J. Luellen took place.
Rebecca was the daughter of David and Abigail
(Jones) Luellen.

Three of the town's residents, Jonathan Macy,
his son-in-law, Jabish Luellen and
Dr. William M. Kerr, were all conductors
on the "Underground Railroad".
