According to the Allen County Genealogical Society this cemetery was originally the Boals Cemetery on land belonging to the Boals family. When Lewis Maples bought the farm the name was changed to the Maples Cemetery. In the 1980's the cemetery was in a "wild state" with few markers. The property was later purchased to build a home and all but one of the burials were removed to Monroeville Cemetery. No relatives could be found for Thomas Hobbs and his stone remains. A photo of his stone was provided by Mary Ann Remnet.
