Allen County Indiana Cemetery Project
Allen County Indiana Cemetery Project

The members of the Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution are documenting all cemeteries in Allen County. The object of this project is to make information available for genealogical research. The county has over 147 cemeteries in its twenty townships.

Member volunteers visited each cemetery and photographed each tombstone. The tombstones were then transcribed exactly as they were written. There is no other information on any person other than what is listed.

This project was started late fall of 2008.

THIS PROJECT IS NOW COMPLETE.

There are over 165,000 photos on this web site. And transcriptions for over 219,000 people.

The known cemeteries in Allen County are listed by township. Links to the township pages can be found on the left of this page. Each township page lists the cemeteries found in that township. There will be a link after the cemetery name if the cemetery has been documented.

We have added a master name index to help locate tombstones.

Master Name Index

OR---Use the search function in the upper left hand corner of the page to help locate a person's tombstone. Since the tombstones in these transcriptions are listed alphabetically by last name it is best to list the surname first and then the given name. Do not place a comma between the last and first name. If you are unable to find a tombstone please remember that their name is listed exactly as it is on the tombstone. Therefore it may be an initial for the first name or it could appear as an abbreviation of the first name such as Saml, Wm, Fredrk, etc.

The photographs are copyrighted by the Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter, NSDAR and may not be copied or published in any way for profit. Copies of the photos may be printed for your personal use only. Please give the Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter, NSDAR credit when documenting where the transcriptions and photos were found.

If you know of any other tombstones or other small family cemeteries that are not currently on our website we would love to know about them so we could add them.

Every effort has been made to transcribe the tombstones exactly as they were inscribed.
Please contact us if any errors are found. Our e-mail address can be found on the contact page.
