UK118 Jim Molyneux’s website for A History of Molyneux in Aintree, Sefton and Kirkdale from 1612. A beautiful illustration of the Molyneux Coat of Arms is featured in this site showing the cross moline and the crest, a cap with peacock‘s feather.  Family motto vincere sat vincere = “To live is to conquer enough.”  The rectangular cross piece of a mill wheel, giving the origin of the name.  In 1066 the Moulineaux came from Rouen in Normandy and were supporters of William the Conqueror.  They supplied flour to his army and the name is derived from them being millers hence Moulin = a wheel and eaux = of the waters.   

A detailed family tree from 1612 gives names and Will details of some ancestors.  Details of Molyneux of Aintree, Sefton, Kirkby and Kirkdale, also includes the families of Harrison, Foster, Moss and  Ray. Church records for various dates include St. Helens, Sefton; St. Mary’s Walton-on-the-Hill, Liverpool; St. James Toxteth, Liverpool;  St. Chad’s Kirkby; St. Cuthbert Halsall; and St.Thomas-the Martyr-UpHolland; all in Lancashire.    Other Molyneux church records and census details are included as well as various photos of school, churches and Liverpool street scenes.
