Pictured is an avenue of flags along a visible section of the Old Kaskaskia Trail in Monroe Co., IL. Originally, the Kaskaskia Trail was an Indian trail that connected the two French villages of Kaskaskia and Cahokia. This trail now leaves South Church St. in Waterloo, goes past the Historical Society property, then on to the Moore Cemetery. The Historical Society property contains Bellefontaine Spring where George Rogers Clark and his men camped. After their tour of duty some of the men returned and one of them, James Moore, settled this site. At least two Revolutionary War Patriots, James Moore & John Whiteside, are buried in the Moore Cemetery.
