Rev. Ron Bogart of Salem

Last week, the Rev. Ron Bogart of Salem brought us copies of his work on three of his family lines: DAGLEY, SIMPSON and HARRIS. We are glad to be able to add this to our files. Also, Keith Ackerman came in with some BROWN family material. He also brought a picture of Catherine WINKLER (wife of John Brown) for us to see. I was especially glad to see this, because I've found my Winkler line an extremely elusive one to trace.

ELLIS--Need information on my great-grandfather, Dan Ellis, and my grandparents, Adolphus John and Elma (THOMPSON) Ellis. Adolphus and Elma had four sons: Jess Angelo, Virgil Wilson, Norman and Loren. All were born after 1910. If anyone has information on any of these, please contact Shirley Ellis Compton, 1190 10,000 Road, Altamont, KS 67330.

PARKS, LATHAM--I'm seeking information on Jonathan Parks and wife, Augusta Elizabeth J. Latham. who were in the Enfield area about 1880. Also need data on Dr. S.C. Latham and Dr. John Latham. Contact Sharon A. Wiemer, 1827 E. Garnet Circle, Mesa, AZ 85204.

Have you been watching Ancestors on PBS on Sunday afternoons? The narrator once remarked genealogists are like detectives because they are always looking for clues and trying to piece them all together to get the whole picture. That seems to be an apt description. A February issue of Newsweek had a long article on "Roots" which stated, "In the past few years, genealogy has gone from a spectator sport to major-league passion. A 1995 survey...found that 42 million people have started to trace their roots."

Are you among those 42 million? If so, stop in to visit us on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We continue to be comfortably busy with letters and visitors to our Genealogy Library. We're open from 11 to 5 on Wednesdays. Come join us.
