"Sons of Thunder: A History of Battery H, First Illinois Light Artillery" by David Oberg

Dave Oberg is a Rockford native and is the great-great grandson of Pehr Alfrid Oberg, aSwedish immigrant who served as a private with Battery H, First Illinois Artillery from 1862-1865.  Oberg serves as the Executive Director of the Elmhurst History Museum and as adjunct faculty atNorthern Illinois University, where he teaches museum administration.  Oberg is a past President of the Illinois Association of Museums and has worked for 30 years in the museum field.  He is the author of two books, Robert Tinker’s Rockford, Past Meets Present and People and Places in Old DeKalb, as well as numerous articles.  He is currently writing a comprehensive history of Battery H.  He lives in Villa Park, Illinois with his wife Sonali.
