Mrs. Joel Kuntzelman Passes Away (handwritten 1929)

Mrs. Sarah M. (Eavey) Kuntzelman, wife of Joel Kuntzelman, passed away Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eva Stanger [sic] in Rockford. Mrs. Kuntzelman had not been well all winter and had gone to Rockford to stay with her daughter.
Sarah M. Kuntzelman, daughter of Isaac and Caroline Eavey was born near Egan; August 24, 1848. She was married to Joel Kuntzelman in 1876. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary three years ago. To this union nine children were born, three of which preceded her in death, two infant sons and Lillian.
Those left to mourn her loss are her husband, Delbert, and Joe, Mrs. Edith French, Mrs. Eva Stanger [sic] and Mrs. Inez Sully, all of Rockford, and Leon of Leaf River; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Heistand and Miss Anna Eavey of Leaf River.
Mrs. Kuntzelman was one of the old residents of Leaf River township and she will be missed by her neighbors who always found willing hands to help them when help was needed.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Christian church, R. W. Pittman officiating. Burial in Egan cemetery. (offered by Thelma Thomas Livingston/Carole Ann Heller)

MRS. JOEL KUNTZELMAN
Leaf River, April 6.--Mrs. Joel Kuntzelman died Friday at 4 pm. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Stenger, 2406 School st., Rockford, after an illness of several weeks. She was 80 years old.
She was born three miles north of Leaf River and spent her entire life in this vicinity.
The husband, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Heistand; Miss Annie Eavey, Leaf River, three sons and three daughters, Delbert Kuntzelman, Leaf River; Joel Kuntzelman, Jr., Rockford; Leon Kuntzelman, Leaf River; Mrs. William French, Loves Park; Mrs. C. E. Stenger and Mrs. Frank Sully of Rockford, survive. There are sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
