Obituary:
"February 5, 1847--August 9, 1923; Miss Sarah L. Chaney, 522 Jefferson Street, died Sunday at noon at St. Anthony's Hospital, following an illness of two months. She suffered a stroke of paralysis August 9 and since then had been an invalid. Miss Chaney was born February 5, 1847, in Ogle County, a daughter of Ralph Chaney. With the family she came to Rockford in 1865 and had resided here since. She was a member of State Street Baptist Church and for several years a deaconess of the Church. She also was a member of the Rockford Woman's Club and the Outlook Club. B. J. Chaney, vice president of the Third National Bank, her brother, is the only survivor of her immediate family. Other relatives in Rockford are a niece, Miss Evelyn Gregory, and a cousin, Mrs. J. L. Clark. R. W. Chaney, a nephew resides at Berkeley California; a niece, Mrs. Paul Benedict, Shasi China, and two other nieces, Margaret Chaney and Mary Chaney, Chicago. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at State Street Baptist Church, the Rev. Rutherford officiating. The casket will be open at the church, from 2:30 to 3:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Cedar Bluff Cemetery."
