John F. Hiteman (1852-1928)

Obituary from the Freeport Journal Standard, Freeport, IL, Saturday, April 7, 1928:

John F. Hiteman, 815 Liberty Avenue, passed away at his home late yesterday afternoon, his death resulting from paresis. Mr. Hiteman had been a resident of Freeport for the past twenty-seven years.
He was born November 16, 1852, in Maryland Township, Ogle County, being a son of M.P. and Nancy (Fry) Hiteman. He was united in marriage October 4, 1876, to Laura E. Petrie, who preceded him in death five years ago.
Twelve children were born, all of whom are living. They are Leroy and Dallas Hiteman, Denver, Colo,; Marvin and Adlai Hiteman, Freeport; Mrs. Eva Leonard, Mrs. Geo. Guth, Mrs. Wm. Johnston, Mrs. Einar Olson, Mrs. Donald Wachlin and Miss Valeria Hiteman, all of Freeport; Mrs. James Manning and Mrs. Paul Siegel, Chicago.
A brother and sister also survive, they being Sexton Hiteman, Forreston; and Mrs. Catherine Cupp, Dixon.
Funeral services will be conducted from the late home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev W. L Collin, pastor of Embury Church will conduct the services and burial will be made in Oakland Cemetery.
