Evaline (Titlow) Allen (1818-1895) Obituary

Mount Morris Index, Mount Morris, Illinois

Thursday, May 30, 1895 p. 3, col 1

Aunt Eva Allen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Cheney, of Lanark, Monday, May 27. Mrs. Allen was among the earliest settlers in Mt. Morris. For several months past she had been visiting her daughters in Freeport and Lanark. A few weeks ago she had the misfortune to fall and break her hip, which owing to her feeble condition and extreme age, was more than she could withstand. We do not know her age but feel confident that she was nearly eighty. She was a good old lady - loved and respected for her many noble qualities. The remains will arrive in this place this morning and the funeral will be held in the M. E. Church at 10 o'clock a.m. Five children survive her - Mrs. Mary Hartman, Mrs. Clara Cheney, Jesse, George Q. and Charles H. Allen. The children have the heartfelt sympathy of a host of friends in their deep affliction.
