Emily Elizabeth (Hunsdon) Hepfer (1848-1933) Obituary

Emily Elizabeth Hunsdon was born in Taylor township, Ogle County on July 8th, 1848, the second of five daughters of Edward and Martha Brown Hunsdon who have preceded her in death.

She was married to William A. Hepfer on May 13, 1875. Two children were born to this union, Adelaide and Clarence J.

Mrs. Hepfer died on November 9th at the home of her son Clarence, where she has resided for the past two years, an invalid, confined to her bed all the time. About three years ago she suffered a fall which broke her hip and injured her back. She was taken to Oregon to a hospital where she remained one year, then to her son's home. After her marriage she and her husband lived in Ashton for a time, moving to Franklin Grove where she made her home until her accident. She had been a resident of this town for about fifty years.

Her husband died on October 9, 1923 and the daughter December 1, 1925. Those left to mourn her passing are her son Clarence, two sisters, Mrs. Annie Moore of West Moline, and Miss Alice Hunsdon of Dixon, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the home of her son, Rev. E. W. O'Neal of the Lighthouse Methodist Church officiating. Funeral hymns were sung by Mrs. Clyde Speck and Mrs. Ruth Kelley, with Mrs. W. L. Moore at the Piano. The casket bearers were four grandsons, Clinton, Charles, Clifford and Joseph Hepfer, two grandsons-in-law, Curtis Ehmen and John Bennett. Burial was in the Franklin cemetery.
