Obituary

Miss Ellen Jane Wray, after a long and painful illness, departed this life, on Monday evening, the 12th inst. at her home in Byron.
The deceased was born in Dauphin Co., Pa. where she united with the Presbyterian Church when about 15 yrs. old, but on coming to Illinois
in 1870 with her sister Carrie, who survives her, she united with the Middle Creek Church, where she retained her membership up to the time of her death.

Thus, for 50 years, she has been working and waiting for her Lord, who has at length come and taken her to His heavenly home, henceforth to walk in light amid the unveiled beauties of the Paradise of God.

Her body was laid to rest by the side of those of her friends, in the Middle Creek Cemetery. The funeral services being conducted by her
Pastor, Rev. J. S. Braddock, who took for his text I John 3:2, and presented therefrom The Son of God. 1st. As to their origin; “Created
anew in Christ Jesus.” 2nd. In their relation or kinship. 3rd. As their present similitude, “It doth not yet appear what we shall be.”
4th. In the type of their new life--the life of Christ. 5th. Their inheritance--the attainment of His perfect image, and His companionship
forever.

She leaves two sisters and many relatives and personal friends to mourn her departure from their midst.
Farewell, sister, rest in peace.
