SLAGLE, NORA A. DAVIS

Nora A. Slagle, 84, of Winchester passed away early Monday morning (February 16, 2004) at the Scott County Nursing Center. She was born September 16, 1919 near Detroit in Pike County the daughter of the late Ora and Caroline Elizabeth Pressey Davis. She married Charles Raymond Slagle October 10, 1936 in Quincy. He preceded her in death February 21, 1991. Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers Charles and Murl Davis, and 2 sisters Bertha Simmons, and Ruby Davis. Mrs. Slagle attended TollGate country school; she owned and operated Slagle�s Restaurant in Winchester for over 45 years retiring in 1994. She continued to enjoy cooking, making pies and cookies for people. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid card and game player. She had been a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Rebecca Lodge. Survivors include her 2 sons, Robert (wife Claire) Slagle of Springfield, and Ronald (wife Linda) Slagle of Winchester. 5 grandchildren Julie (husband Gail) Glasco of Decatur, Tim Slagle of Springfield, Jamie (husband Dan) Dorsey of Winchester, Brad (wife Angie) Slagle of Winchester, and Chad (wife April) Slagle of Edwardsville. 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday (Feb. 18,2004) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Scott County Nursing Center.
