WINCHESTER CEMETERY OBITUARIES

SCOTT, ABRAHAM L.

After a week's illness the earthly career of Abraham L. Scott was ended as he passed quietly from this life at 10:00 o'clock Monday evening, April 15. He was the son of James C and Mariah Scott and was born in Scott county Sept. 27, 1860. His entire life was spent in Scott county and for the past several years in Winchester.

On October 6, 1892, he was united in marriage to Katie Crabtree. Shortly after their marriage they made the good confession and have lived that life to the time of his death. Three children were born to this union. Two passed away in infancy. Otie, with his wife, reside in the home and have been a great solace to Mr. Scott in his declining years.

Mr. Scott was one of a family of fifteen children, all of whom have preceded him in death excepting three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Cook of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Mrs. Nelia Sawyer of Roodhouse, Ill., Mrs. Carrie Townsend of Winchester, Ill., and one brother, Chas. Scott, of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Mr. Scott was of a quiet retiring disposition but carried with it a keen sense of humor. He loved his home and his family and will be greatly missed by those with whom he was most closely associated.

Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church, Wednesday afternoon, April 17, 1935, at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. R. L. Schwab officiating. Music was furnished by the church choir and Wes Andell sang a solo. Miss Ethel McClure was accompanist.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Jos. Crabtree, Mrs. Harry Montgomery, Mrs. Ed Campbell and Misses Katherine Crabtree and Margaret Cowhick.

Interment was in the Winchester cemetery, the pall bearers being H. C. Montgomery, Dave Cowhick, Ed Campbell, Morris Sweet, Chas. McCauley and Geo. Cowhick.
