SCOTT, NELLIE GRACE CURTIS

Winchester Times, July 6, 1934 P7 C4

MRS. WALTER SCOTT

Nellie Grace Curtis, daughter of Charles and Mary Ella Curtis, was born near Manchester, Ill., Oct. 14, 1880, where she grew to young womanhood, attending the school and church, and where she enjoyed the pleasures of a country home life.

She was united in marriage with Walter H. Scott, on Nov. 26, 1902. To this union seven children were born, one dying in infancy and another son Stanley Curtis Scott, preceded her in death at the age of 19 years.

The family moved to a farm near Winchester, Ill., in December, 1921, where they still reside. After moving to this community she, with all her family united with the Baptist Church of Winchester, where she has remained a faithful member. Her health prevented her from regular attendance the last year, but her interest in the welfare of the church continued.

Her life has been characterized by loyalty and devotion as a companion, as a mother and as a Christian. She was especially interested in the welfare of her home and children and will be remembered by them as a self sacrificing devoted mother.

After an illness of about five months she responded to the welcome summons of her master, "Thou good and faithful servant, Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many, enter thou into the joys of thy Lord." She entered into rest July 1, at 7:00 p.m.

She leaves to mourn her going, her devoted husband, Walter M. (H.) Scott; three daughters, Ella Florence, wife of H. C. Dickinson of Cicero, Ill., Helen Freida, wife of J. R. Henderson of Roodhouse, Ill., and two brothers, James F. Curtis of Modesto, Ill., and Roy E. Curtis of Alsey, Ill., together with other relatives and a host of friends.

My Jesus as thou wilt; O may thy will be mine; Into thy hand of love I would my all resign. Through sorrow or through joy Conduct me as thine own, And help me still to say Thy will be done.

Funeral services were conducted from the Baptist Church, Tuesday afternoon, July 3, 1934, at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. F. V. Wright officiating. A quartet, composed of Rev. Wright, Misses Louise Frost and Martha Higgins and Jas. Edmonson sang "Rock of Ages" and "We'll Talk it Over Together Bye and Bye."
