Roy Vernon Rice, Jr. of Manchester dies; rites Saturday
ROODHOUSE - Roy Vernon Rice, Jr., of Manchester died 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was 49 years of age.
He was born March 15, 1927, in Roodhouse, son of Roy Sr. and Ethel Fisher Rice. He married Margaret Henneberg April 22, 1950. She survives with the following children; Michael of Joliet, Mrs. Paul (Nancy) Renner of Roodhouse; Mrs. Brian (Pat) Floyd of Springfield and Sally and Earl at home.
There are eight grandchildren. Three sisters survive: Mrs. Ruth Hicks of Arkansas, Mrs. Leta Vinyard of Roodhouse and Mrs. Lillie Maberry of Winchester.
He was preceded in death by two sister and one brother.
Mr. Rice was employed by Caterpiller Company, a veteran of WW II and a member of the Manchester Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse. Interment will be Manchester Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
