James H. Murray of Manchester dies
ROODHOUSE -- James H. Murray, 72, of Manchester, died Saturday morning, July 14, at Passavant Hospital. He was born Sept. 23, 1911 in Manchester, a son of Ernest D. and Eva P. Brickey Murray. He is survived by three sister; Margaret J. Chambers, Jacksonville, Sara K. Murray, Manchester and Mrs. Richard(Virginia) Whitney, Memphis, Tenn.; and one brother, Robert E. Murray, Springfield. He was preceded in death by one brother. He was a member of the Manchester American Legion; Manchester Masonic Lodge; Ansar Shrine; Springfield Consistory; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley, Springfield; AONMS, Springfield, Rasna Shrine Club; and Illinois Farm Bureau. He attended North Texas State Teacher's College, Denton, Texas, and was a World War II Army veteran. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, Roodhouse, with burial in Manchester Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday, with family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. and Masonic services at 8:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Manchester Cemetery and the Heart Fund.****
July 19, 1984, JacksonvilleServices for James Murray were held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with Rev. Gary Feldman officiating. The eulogy was read by Murray's niece, Kay Chambers. The vocalist was Lloyd Gordon and the organist Virginia Gordon. Selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Lead Me Gently Home." Pallbearers were Howard Million, Floyd Collins, Gordon McClenning, Earl Young, Russell Carey, Dee Bell and David Glossop. Burial was in Manchester Cemetery.
