Mrs. George Nettles Passed Away Sunday
Mrs. Sarah Emily Nettles, 64, wife of George Nettles north of Roodhouse, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, September 19, at her home. Mrs. Nettles had been in ill health for some time.
Sarah Emily Whewell, daughter of Richard and Amy Dikis Whewell, was born in Murrayville, Feb. 15, 1884 and had resided in this community all of her life.
She was united in marriage to George E. Nettles December 24, 1903 and to this union five children were born.
Mrs. Nettles is survived by her husband and four daughters, Georgia, wife of Roy Blackburn; White Hall; Bertha, wife of Chester Day, Roodhouse; Mildred, wife of Monroe Gilmore, Roodhouse; Hazel, wife of Ward Randall, Chicago. A son, Kenneth died in infancy. She also leaves two grandchildren, Larry Dean Gilmore and Lynn Ellen Randall; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Marsh, Jacksonville and two brothers William Whewell, Alsey. One brother, James H. Whewell preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nettles was a member of the Martin's Prairie Baptist church, but due to poor health, had not maintained an active membership. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge at Manchester.
She was a loving mother and wife and a true friend to all who knew her. Her passing will be mourned by her family and friends.

Because you are the dearest mother on this earth.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church in Manchester, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Day.
Music was furnished by Rev. and Mrs. W. W. Williams, accompanied by Mrs. M. R. Mackey.
The floral tributes were cared for by Mrs. Irvin Jones, Mrs. Bida Greenwalt, Mrs. Sam Jones, Mrs. Hal Barber, Mrs. Florinda Dawdy, Mrs. Thomas Russell, and Mrs. Clarence Nettles.
Casket bearers were Robert VanTuyle, Reid Ash, Irvin Jones, Clarence Taylor, Bida Greenwalt, and Kenneth Smock.
Interment was in Manchester cemetery.
