YARBER, PEARL MAY (INGRAM) WILLIAMS

Pearl May Williams Yarber, 88, of rural Jacksonville died Monday, April 25, 2005 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

She was born April 25, 1917 in Gatewood, Mo., the daughter of Nick and Martha Ellen Redus Ingram. She married Cecil F. Williams. He preceded her in death in 1972. She married Irven Yarber May 20, 1973. He survives in Jacksonville.

She is also survived by four sons, Cecil Jr. (wife, Sandy) Williams of Moberly, Mo., Donald Edward (wife, Sandy) Williams of Modesto, Lonnie Max (wife, Carolyn) Williams of Jacksonville and Larry Ray (wife, Susan) Williams of Springfield; one daughter, Martha Lucille (husband, Billy) Steele of Palmyra; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; six stepsons, Ronald (wife, Jewell) Yarber of Van Buren, Mo., Donald (wife, Rita) Yarber of High Ridge, Mo., Thomas (wife, Candy) Yarber of New London, Iowa, Calvin (wife, Barbara) Williams of Popular Bluffs, Mo., Leonard (wife, Georgia Lea) Williams of Myrtle, Mo., and Herbert (wife, Marline) Williams of Adairsville, Ga.; 25 step-grandchildren; 52 step-great-grandchildren; 19 step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom Ingram of Lockwood, Mo.; four sisters, Mearley Johnson and Vercie Anderson, both of Meredosia, Bertha Lewell of Jacksonville and Reva Emmons of Kalamazoo, Mich. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Ervin Ingram.

Mrs. Yarber worked as a secretary for the Williams Lumber Company before retiring. She was a member of the Assembly of God on Jacksonville.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28 at Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse with the Rev. Wayne Brashear officiating and the Rev. Tim Kruzan and Rev. Billy Steele assisting. Pianist Gladys Huff accompanied Grace Williams as she sang "Won't It Be Wonderful There," "How Great Thou Art," and "I'll Fly Away." Pallbearers were Kevin Williams, David Steele, Nick Williams, Kerry Williams, Greg Williams and Jeff Williams. Burial was in Manchester Cemetery.


HESTER, CLIFFORD C.

Clifford C. Hester, 80, of Fayette, near Greenfield, died early Monday morning, Dec. 6, 2004, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

He was born April 25, 1924, in Scott County, the son of Earl B. and Catherine Bettis Hester. He married Lucy Loretta Schofield on Aug. 10, 1991, in Fayette and she survives.

He is also survived by one son, Tim Hester of Dawson; two daughters, Gail (husband, Chuck) Parsons of Auburn and Cindy (husband, Mike) Tapscott of Edinburg; one stepson, Dennis (wife, Patty) Reese of Eldred, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Jan (husband, Mike) Pennington of Montgomery, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kendra Monts, Becky Tapscott, David Tapscott, Heather Parsons, Ben Tapscott, Elizabeth Reese and Nina Reese; and one brother, Earl R. Hester of Springfield. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Hester, and an infant sister, Esther Hester.

Mr. Hester graduated from Shurtleff College in 1949 with a degree in business administration. He was a computer analyst and systems operator at Fiat-Allis in Springfield for 27 years, retiring in 1981. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran stationed in France.

Private funeral services will be held later with interment at Manchester Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 3-6 p.m. Thursday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. MCCRACKEN, HOWARD V.

Howard V. McCracken, 85, of Murrayville, died early Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

He was born June 9, 1919 in Manchester, the son of Howard H. and Aulta Hazelrigg McCracken. He married Wilma M. Weller Aug. 6, 1962 in Douds, Iowa and she preceded him in death March 1, 2004.

He is survived by one son Michael H. "Mick" (companion, Kari) McCracken of Pekin; one daughter, Marta Kruger of Marion; two granddaughters, Masey Ross and Mellissa McCracken; and one brother, Bob McCracken of Amerillo, Texas. He was preceded in death by one sister, Bess Maxine Conner.

Mr. McCracken graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1936. He served in the Army Air Force as a pilot during WWII where he attained the rank of Captain. He served overseas in 1352nd Base Unit Air Transport Command for seven months in India, China, and Burma. He flew 154 rescue missions and 677 hours in B-52's and C-47's. He flew in personnel and medical supplies, and food for drops to crews that had been forced down. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon and two battle stars, American Theater ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. Upon his discharge from the military, he was in the wholesale auto parts for 27 years in Rock Island. In 1980, he went back to Scott County to farm and then moved to Murrayville some time later.

Graveside services were held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at Manchester City Cemetery. No memorials have been named. Condolences may be left for the family online at mackeydaws.com . Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Murrayville was in charge of arrangements.


BALLARD, MARY LOUISE SEEVERS

Mary Louise Ballard, 88, died Wednesday morning, March 30, 2005, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

She was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Roodhouse, the daughter of Charles T. and Edna E. Lemon Seevers. She married Ray L. "Les" Ballard on June 10, 1939, in St. Louis, and he preceded her in death April 2, 1981.

She is survived by one son, Jerry (wife, Ruth) of Missouri City, Texas; two daughters, Patricia (husband, Neal) Gipson and Beverly (husband, Donald) Norris, both of Jerseyville; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Peters; three brothers, John, Lawrence and James Seevers; and a son-in-law, Richard Crotchett.

Mrs. Ballard was raised in Roodhouse. She and her husband lived there until 1962, when they moved to Jerseyville. She worked for Bertman's Clothing Store in Jerseyville and later was a bookkeeper for Levis Cunningham. She later provided a home-based income tax preparation service for individuals. She was a member of the Trainmans Union and loved to bowl and watch baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with burial in Manchester Cemetery in Manchester. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Jerseyville.

GREEN, MARY L. WHITE

Mary L. Green, 79, of Manchester, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, at Park Hill Nursing Home in Chillicothe.

She was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Farmersville, the daughter of Roy Amos and Martinette Baker White. She married William S. Green Jan. 7, 1939, in Bowling Green, Mo. He preceded her in death March 6, 1989.

She is survived by one son, Larry L. of Livingston, Texas; one daughter, Karen (husband, Judson) Bruce of Chillicothe; four grandchildren; one brother, James White of Joliet; and one sister, Eva Mae Estler of Franklin, N.C.

Mrs. Green was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church. She was assistant post master at Manchester Post Office.

Funeral service were held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mackey-Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial at Manchester Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Chillicothe Rescue 33 or Manchester Cemetery.


ESTLER, EVA MAE WHITE

Eva Mae White Estler, 78, of Franklin, N.C., and formerly of Farmersville, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in Asheville, N.C.

She was born Jan. 15, 1926, the daughter of Roy and Nettie Baker White. She married Delbert Eugene Estler and he preceded her in death May 21, 1992.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie (husband, Robin) McLendon of Franklin, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Sherry Ann Estler; one sister, Mary Lydia Green; and one brother, James Albert White.

Mrs. Estler retired from Sears after 17 years as office supervisor. She was an Angel Medical Center volunteer and was of the Methodist faith.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Manchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse.
