These two graves are about 25 feet apart, in a brushy area one mile east of Naples or four miles west of
Bluffs in Scott County, IL. At the time of these 2 burials, Scott County was still a part of
Morgan County (Scott County was set off in 1839). The grave of Anson Collins is about 20 feet from
the road and can be seen from the road when the vegetabion is not too thick.
I stopped here on Saturday, 28 April 2007 after spending some time at the Naples Cemetery to retake a few photographs.
I didn't have boots with me and it had rained late during the week before so I didn't wade into the vegetation to
find the second grave marker. I'll go back, find the second stone and photograph it sometime in the future.
Note: Anson Collins emigrated to this county from Litchfield, CT in 1817. This is the first
grave opened in this burial ground. Since the child died before Anson Collins, perhaps her body
was moved here at a date after the burial of Mr. Collins.
