MRS. JOSEPH NELSON, 70, FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN DECATUR
Mrs. Joseph W. (Mildred "Mickey" McCann) Nelson, 70, of 27 Eastmoreland Lane died 12:04 p.m. Sunday (April 1, 1979) in St. Mary's Hospital.
Funeral Services at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mount Zion. Visitation 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home in Decatur with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Illiopolis. Memorials: Mexican Ophanages, in care of her son, Joe W. Nelson or to a children's charity of choice.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Buffalo, daughter of Joseph and Helen Fletcher McCann. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and actiave in Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mount Zion. She was a graduate of St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield and was a retired director of nursing at the Macoun County T. B. Sanatorium Nursing Home. She married Joseph W. Nelson, who died in 1954.
Survivng are sons, Terry of Decatur; Joe W. of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Mrs. Roy (Willa) Braun of Buffalo; Mrs. John (Erma) Lyon of Illiopolis; brother, Wayne McCann of Detroit, Mich.; 3 granchildren. One son, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.
