IDE'S ENGINE WORKS SOLD 'IDEAL' ENGINES TO STREET CAR LINES
Ide's Engine Works, founded by Albert E. Ide, sold their "Ideal" steam engines to street car lines,
state institutions throughout the west and middle west, and other concerns, including the St. Louis Globe-Democrat.
The firm manufactured a number of products, but in its later years concentrated on steam engines. The first electric light plant,
a temporary installation, was housed in the Ide engine works. Albert E. Ide held patents for a number of
engines and other inventions.
