	Records of the three Morgan County Poor Farms are nowhere to be found at present.  If anybody 
“out there” knows where some of them are, would they please let us know about them so we could retrieve 
what we can.  Morgan County was the first county in Illinois to establish a farm to house and care for the 
indigent, sick, insane, elderly and orphans, of that we can be proud as the citizens of the now.
	At one time I found an old book and copied the following information, intending to go back some 
day and try to decipher the hard-to-read handwriting.  But the book disappeared.  The title on the page was
 “Paupers Received”.

From Shirley Aleguas:
	Florence copied the records up through December 1853.  She indicates that from then on the records 
were too poorly kept to read and interpret for 1854-1863.  The book has not been rediscovered since she copied 
the few records which follow.
