"Red" Witherbee, 68, of Waverly dies
WAVERLY - Kessler "Red" Wood Witherbee, 68, of Waverly died early Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Jacksonville Convalescent Center.
He was born April 12, 1918 in Morgan County, a son of William and Lena Wood Witherbee. He married Lillian Neal on June 28, 1952, in Jacksonville and she survives in Franklin.
Also surviving are two sons, Les and Jeff, both of Waverly; three daughters, Debra Watret of Waverly and Carol Angelo and Linda Witherbee, both of Jacksonville; six grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Witherbee of Nortonville; one brother, Harlan of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Clarence and John, and one grandson, Zachariah T. Angelo.
He was a retired machine operator for Caterpillar Tractor Co. of Peoria. He was a member of the Spring Bay Fire Department and the Youngblood Baptist Church of Nortonville.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Youngblood Baptist church in Nortonville with burial at the Youngblood Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 - 9 p.m. Monday at the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly. Memorials are suggested to the Waverly Rescue Squad.
