VIRGIL VEDDER DIES; FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY

Virgil Vedder, 66-year-old life-long farmer in the Nortonville community died at 7:45 a.m. Friday at Passavant hospital where he had ben a patient since July 13.

He was admitted to the hospital suffering injuries sustained in a tractor-truck accident near Nortonville. Vedder was reportedly pinned between a tractor and truck and suffered a broken pelvis.

He was born October 30, 1899, in the Nortonville community, a son of Joseph and Frona Schneider Vedder. He was married Feb. 5, 1920, to the former Ida Mason, who survives with four children, Virgil Jr., Jacksonville; Donald Eugene, Murrayville; Mrs. Helen Hundle, Henepin; Mrs. Marian Mueller, Breckenridge, Colo.; also two brothers, Frank of Franklin and Jess of Woodson. There are six grandchildren.

The remains were removed to the Neece Funeral Home in Franklin, where the family met friends Monday evening.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Youngblood Baptist church in Nortonville, with the Rev. Marvin Walkington officiating. Mrs. Harry Bridges presided at the piano and accompanied Mrs. Roger Sutton and Mrs. Harvey Crow, who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful isle of Somewhere".

Caring for the flowers were Mrs. Howard Elliott, Mrs. Bob Pennell, Mrs. Joe Vedder, Mrs. Byron McNeely, Mrs. Chas. Mutch, Mrs. Bill Vedder, Mrs. Sherman Orr, Mrs. Bill Orris, Mrs. Lee Hull, Miss Becky Vedder and Miss Debra Hundley.

Casket bearers were Verner VanBebber, Bill Orris, Charles Mutch, Teddy Birdsell, Lionel Seymour and Ernest Newingham. Interment was in the Youngblood Church cemetery.
