Mrs. Lanta L. McNeely
Mrs. Lanta Lee McNeely who had resided in Waverly for the past several years, passed away Friday afternoon, February 14th at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville where she had been a patient for thirteen weeks. Mrs. McNeely was 82 years of age.
She was born in Missouri October 14, 1861; daughter of Henry and Amanda Hankins Lutz. She was married November 26, 1902 to Edward McNeely who preceded her in death.
Surviving are ten grandchildren, Roy Dwyer of Jacksonville; Paul Dwyer of Alton; Mrs. Wayne Timmons of Hillsboro; Mrs. Amos Coker and Mrs. Clarence Miner of Waverly; Mrs. Jean Peak of Springfield; Robert Banning of Warsaw, Mo.; James Dwyer of California; mrs. Rosella Gantner and Edward Dwyer, both of St. Louis; one nephew and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Olive.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Youngblood Baptist church, Nortonville. Rev. Eugene Owsley, pastor of the Waverly Baptist church, officiated. A vocal duet, "Ivory Palaces" was sung by Mrs. Eugene Owsley and Mrs. Glen Anderson, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Gordon Hankins.
Pallbearers were: Dean McQueen, Norman McQueen, Lawrence Whitlock, Robert Whitlock, Pete Hundley and Roy Wright. Burial was in Youngblood Cemetery.
