MCLAMAR, SUSAN (MCCURLEY)

Susan C. McCurley, daughter of Ezekiel and Jane McCurley, was born near Nortonville Nov. 15, 1852, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Means, Louise, Texas, at the age of 85 years, two months and five days.

She was the last of 11 children who with their parents, have passed on to their reward.

She was united in marriage to George W. Henry, who passed away Dec. 5, 1882 and to this union were born four children, two who with their father, preceded her in death. She was again married to Thomas McLamar and to this union were born three children, two dying in infancy and their father, Jan. 28, 1917.

She has always lived in Morgan county until Oct. 20, 1937 when she went to Texas to spend the winter with her daughter where she passed away Jan. 20, 1938.

At an early age she united with the Youngblood Baptist Church at Nortonville.

She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, one son, and one step-son, Charles McLamar, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Sylvia Means, of Louise, Texas; Mrs. Claussen, of Scottville, and Oliver McLamar of Nortonville, and 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Youngblood Baptist Church Sunday in charge of the pastor of the church, Elder Ray March, assisted by Elder William Edwards.

Music was furnished by her nieces, Mrs. Bessie Thies, Mrs. Meda Basham, Mrs. Irene Hellewell and Mrs. Sarah Jane Basham, with Mrs. Gladys Fanning at the piano. They sang "Rock of Age," "Shall We Gather at the River" and "We Are Going Down the Valley". Those caring for the flowers were granddaughters, Mrs. Velma Dunn, Mrs. Sylvia French and Misses Martha and Bettie Lewis.

The bearers were nephews, Gus Henry, Thomas Henry, Harry Seymour, Fletcher Seymour, Homer McCurley and Jack McCurley. Burial was in Youngblood Cemetery.
