Mrs. Jennie E. Long, 82, Waverly, died Friday, June 23, 1978, at the Modern Care Nursing Center in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Long was born near Murrayville February 26, 1896, daughter of Edwin and Jeanetta Worrall Preston. She married Javan Long in 1915, and he died in 1963.

Survivors include six daughters: Mary Leamons, Waverly; Martha Waters, Jacksonville; Myrtle Hendricker, Shelbyville, Missouri; Bonnie Seymour and Marjorie White, both of Franklin; and Betty Chapman, Waverly; four sons: Julius and Harvey, both of Franklin; Roy, Waverly; and Ralph, Modesto; two brothers, Clyde Preston, Jacksonville, and Harry Preston, Roodhouse; 36 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two great grandsons.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Youngblood Baptist church in Nortonville with Rev. Carl Wankel of Jacksonville officiating.

Beatrice Smith sang "In the Garden", "Nearer, My God to Thee", and "Amazing Grace" with Brenda Chaudoin accompanying her on the piano.

Pallbearers were Leonard Smith, Ray Twyford, Robert Holmes, Ted Stewart, Jack Reed, Sr., and Virgil Lindly. Burial was in Youngblood Cemetery.
