1917 - 1998

FRANKLIN - Delbert Addam Lawrence, 80, of Chapin and formerly of the Franklin area, died Saturday morning, Jan. 17, 1998, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 19, 1917, in Deep Water, Mo., the son of Aaron Oscar and Carrie Eberting Lawrence. He married Ruby Esther Ridder on dec. 22, 1938, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1997.

He is survived by one son, James Edwin of Jacksonville; three daughters, Evelyn Rigor of Chapin, Elizabeth L. Cummins of Roodhouse, Ruth Ann Williams of Jacksonville; one sister, Veda Maxine; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother.

Mr. Lawrence was a retired farmer. He worked as a janitor at Illinois College, and at General Telephone. He also operated the pressure treatment plant for Casswood Industries in Beardstown. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Youngblood Baptist Church in Nortonville with burial at Youngblood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Neece Funeral Home in Franklin, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
