Henry Jackson Sr. dies here Tuesday

Henry G. Jackson Sr., 77, of 222 Hardin, father of Morgan County Sheriff Henry G. Jackson Jr., died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Passavant Hospital.

He was born Sept. 29, 1909 in Morgan Co., the son of John Henry and Sarah Hopper Jackson.

He married Margaret Lansinger April 2, 1932 in Carrollton, and she survives, along with three sons, Henry Jackson Jr. of Murrayville, Myron Jackson of Alice Springs, Australia and Ned Jackson of Jacksonville; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Brice T. Jackson of Woodward, Okla. And Bruce O. Jackson of Jacksonville; and two sisters, Mary Spencer of Jacksonville and Wilma Elliott of Woodson.

Preceding him in death were three grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters.

He was a corporate traffic manager for Nesco Corporation, an Illinois Commerce Commission down-state inspector and a 1932 graduate of Illinois College, where he was president of Phi Alpha Literary Society. He also attended Lincoln Law School in Springfield and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Youngblood cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 7-9 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Episcopal Church, the Cancer Society, or Passavant Hospital.
