Lucinda A. Dikis Fanning

Largely attended funeral services for Lucinda A. Fanning were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Youngblood Baptist Church at Nortonville with Rev. D.C. Byus officiating.

The vocal selections were rendered by Brs. Beulah Mutch, Mrs. Elizabeth Seymour, and Mr. Lloyd Cox with Mrs. Lloyd Sorrels as accompanist.

The many beautiful floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Florence Horrn, Mrs. Maude Deitch, Mrs. Veda Shelton, Mrs. Jessie Feanreyhough, Mrs. Lula Story, Mrs. Hettie Barber, Mrs. Ida Beastall, Mrs. Stella Sheppard, Mrs. Irene Bond and Mrs. Delia Wilson.

The pall bearers were Ray Davidson, Leonard Shelton, Raymond Steele, Charles Anders, Jonas Wilson, and Lon Dikis.

Interment was in Youngblood Cemetery.

Lucinda A. Dikis, daughter of James and Lucinda Dikis, was born December 26, 1863, near Woodson, when quite young the family moved to the Greasy Prairie neighborhood, where she grew into young womanhood, and at an early age was converted and untied with the Greasy Prairie Church. In later life she moved her membership to Brooklyn Methodist Church, Jacksonville, where until the time of her death she was a faithful member.

She was united in marriage to John S. Fanning, September 15, 1887, and to this union were born six children, Floyd, Verne, Alma, Cade, Wilburt and Velma, with Floyd and Cade dying in infancy. Her husband, John S. Died July 21, 1901 at the farm home south of Nortonville, After his death Mrs. Fanning worked untiringly in the rearing of her children. Sometime later she and her children moved to Nortonville, where they established their home, remaining there for a number of years, later moving to Jacksonville, where she resided until the time of her death, on October 7, 1940. She was stricken with paralysis and at an early hour on October 8, 1940,she was called to her everlasting home.

Together with her children, she leaves seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of neighbors and friends.
