MRS. AVIA EDWARDS DEAD AT AGE OF SIXTY-NINE

Mrs. Avia Edwards died at the family home near Nortonville Thursday afternoon. She had been in poor health for several months and of late her condition had become serious so that death was not unexpected.

The deceased was born in Macoupin county northwest of Scottville sixty-nine years ago. She was united in marriage to Avia Edwards on Dec. 11, 1870, and to their union was born eight childred: Mrs. Mary Kitchen, of near Asbury; Everett Edwards, of Jerseyville; Mrs. Ella Henry, of Nortonville; Frank and Jesse Edwards, of Alta, Iowa; Mrs. Leona Waters, of Athensville; and William Edwards, at home. One daughter, Agnes passed away several years ago. Mr. Edwards died in 1905.

Mrs. Edwards had been a resident of the Nortonville neighborhood for forty-six years and was one of the best known of the older residents of the county. She was a member of the Youngblood Baptist
