‘Granny' Coleman of Modesto dies

MODESTO - Ruth I. "Granny" Coleman, 74, of Modesto died Wednesday morning, June 6, 1990, at Sunrise Manor in Virden.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1916 in Rushville, the daughter of Otto and Cora Moore Thompson. She married Clifford Coleman in 1958 in Galesburg and he died on Sept. 16, 1987.

She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Behymer of Modesto and Patsy Behymer of Scottville; one son, Ronald E. Brewer of Roosevelt, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Lawler of Texas; and two brothers, Charles O. Thompson of Springfield and Herbert Thompson of Ferris. She was preceded in death by one sister and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Coleman was a member of the Modesto United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra with burial at Youngblood Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Northwestern Rescue Squad.
