Clifford Coleman of Modesto dies

PALMYRA - Clifford Coleman, 81, of Modesto, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, sept. 16, at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard.

He was born in Henepin Oct. 31, 1905, a son of John and Alice Thomason Coleman.

He was first married to Josephine Feliksiak in 1939 and she preceded hi in 1958. He then married Ruth Kelly in 1958 and she survives with two daughters, Barbara Lane of Monroe, Wisc., and Georgia Anderson of Rock Island, two step-daughters, Peggy Behymer of Modesto and Patty Behymer of Scottville, two sons, Ronald Cliff Coleman of Oakley, Calif., and Eugene Coleman of Denver, Colo., one step-son Ronald Eugene Brewer of Braidwood, seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

He was a barber at Rock Island for 45 years where he served as president of the Barber's Union for five years and secretary for eight years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Stults-Neece Funeral Home at Palmyra with burial in Youngblood Cemetery at Nortonville. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family to meet friends 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials suggested to the Northwestern Rescue Squad.
