Sept. 28, 1903 Jacksonville paper

Yatesville

Levicey Hall Flinn was born in the state off Kentucky Dec. 21, 1820 and came to Yatesville precinct when a child and has lived here all her life except a short time in Kansas. She united in marriage to Royal Flinn Feb. 6th, 1837. Together they journeyed through life and endured the hardship trials incident to early pioneer life. They reared a family of 13 children, six sons and four daughters of their union and three stepsons. Three sons preceded them to the better land. Her husband departed this life some years ago. She professed a hope in Christ and joined Union church of Regular Baptists of Yatesville, Ill. June 9, 1852 and was baptized by Elder Wm. Crow. She departed this life Friday, Sept. 25th, at the home of her son, Thomas Flinn, at Waverly, Ill. She had been afflicted for almost 40 years with rheumatism and had not walked a step for about 20 years, yet she bore her affliction with great Christian faith in her Savior, and although she was not able to attend church for many years, she always enjoyed the company and council of her friends and brethren. She spent a great deal of her time in reading until the past few years her eyesight failed her. She was well posted on the Bible and many items of incident and history and it was pleasant to visit her. Mother Flinn has gone from us, asleep in Jesus, waiting for the adoption to the redemption of her body, When she will awake in His likeness and be satisfied. She leaves the church, her children and grandchildren and great grand children and many friends to mourn the loss. Our loss is her eternal gain. Funeral services were conducted at the church here Sunday at 2 oclock p.m. by Elder John L. Scott and she was laid to rest beneath the flowers beside her husband in Yatesville cemetery. Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pall bearers. A large crowd was present at the funeral and burial.
