RICKARD, DORIS SMEDLEY

Doris Rickard, 53, of Springfield, dies

WAVERLY - Miss Doris Smedley Rickard, 53, of Springfield, died Thursday morning at Memorial Medical Center. She taught for 21 years at Iles Elementary School in Springfield.

She was born March 23, 1923 in Waverly, a daughter of Frank and Emma Smedley Rickard.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Leslie (Louise) Kumler of Waverly; two nephews; three great-nieces; and several cousins.

She graduated from MacMurray College in 1945. She was a member of the Springfield Education Association and the Waverly United Methodist Church.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Neece Funeral Home here with burial in Waverly Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Vancil Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will be held at the Neece Funeral Home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

The family suggests that friends who want to give memorials consider the American Cancer Society.


CRAWFORD, RANDELL

Randell Crawford of Petersburg dies Monday

WAVERLY - Randell Crawford, 65, Petersburg, died Monday morning at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Mr. Crawford was born May 28, 1913, at Tompkinsville, Kentucky, son of William and Mary Poindexter Crawford. He married Virginia Roberts, and she survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Judy Kay Crawford, Waverly; two brothers, Beck, Springfield, and H. T., Riverton; three half-sisters, Mrs. Jean Clevenger, Franklin, and Mrs. Ruth Harris and Mrs. Marie Ross, both of Waverly; six step-daughters: Mrs. Jean Pitchford, Mrs. Jeanette Woods and Mrs. Bonnie Billbrook, all of Waverly; Mrs. Judy Ann Killon, Riverton; Mrs. Gwen Stelte, Riverton; and Mrs. Linda Swaggerty, Springfield; a step-son, Larry Crawford, Rochester; 14 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Neece Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery.

The family will meet friends at the funeral home 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.


MCMAHAN, EVA

Eva I McMahan (June 2, 1896 - January 23, 1993)

WAVERLY - Eva McMahan of Waverly died Saturday at Doctors Hospital.

Private funeral services will be held.

Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, Waverly, is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by two nieces and two nephews.


MCMAHAN, NELLIE C.

Miss Nellie C. McMahan of 720 S. Fourth St., formerly of Waverly, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Haven Nursing Home.

She was born in Wichita, Kans., the daughter of Isaac and Josie Peck McMahan. For several years she was secretary to the president of the Nickle Plate Railroad and for several years was employed with the Federal Department of Food and Drugs.

Surviving are three sisters, Miss Eva McMahan of Waverly, Mrs. Mildred Weidling of Springfield, Mo. and Mrs. Hazel Holland of Coffeyville, Kan.; a brother, Russell of Kirkwood, Mo.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Neece Funeral Home, Waverly, the Rev. Clyde Wofley officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery.
